At the beginning of April my wife purchased a 2005 Lincoln LS from Sanderson Lincoln Mercury on Bell Road in Phoenix. She was thrilled with the car for a week and then she started to have problems. One week into the ownership... 2 coils in the cylinders fried along with the spark plugs. It was fixed without cost because Ford knew about the problem with this particular VTech Engine and of course there have been no recalls.
A week later 2 more cylinder coils were fried That's 4 so far. About a month after ownership, the "Engine" light went on... we took it in to see what was wrong. That's when we were informed that 2 more coils were fried. We were told that there may be other problems and were asked if we would like further diagnostics done at the cost of $114. To be safe we agreed.
We were the informed that we needed to have
the entire transmission overhauled at the cost of $3,500.!!!
We were not only shocked but traumatized that we would have to fork that much money out after owning the car only one month. As Seniors, we simply don't have that kind of ready cash in this kind of economy and told them that they needed to buy the car back because of all the problems. Their option was to offer us a Re-manufactured, Factory Built Transmission and they would be gracious enough to give is the employee discount and it would only cost us $2,800.
That's when a friend recommended Tri-City Transmission in Tempe.
We left the car with them for the day.
That afternoon we got a call from Tri-City Transmission and were told that they could not detect anything wrong with the transmission.
They thought the car was in great condition and told my wife to enjoy it. Needless to say we were beside ourselves with the great news and would recommend these guys to anybody. They were not only the friendliest guys that we've ever dealt with... they were the most honest.... and with our experience that's something few and far between.
I truly believe that Sanderson Lincoln Mercury should be held accountable for what they put us through.
