In mid-October 2009, I contacted Triad and obtained a 10-day pay off quote. Payment was sent express mail within 2 calendar days, and I followed up on both their website and with Experian to confirm that loan was accurately reported as paid in full and closed. Today, I received an alert from Experian. Santander USA is reporting that I am past due for the month of December for 30 days for an amount almost twice what my monthly payment on my old loan was. I had never heard of this company and assumed it was fraud. I googled the company, and found it had bought Triad's loan portfolio. When I call their phone number, its too late to speak with a rep. I can only get a recorded message on my old account. They say my pay off amount is $0.00. They are ruining the credit I worked so hard to improve. I have never received a single call from this company, nor have I received a letter telling me that the account was transferred. This company is attempting to rip off consumers. From other posts I have seen, they are playing this trick on many other former Triad customers, to the point of repossessing paid off autos. There needs to be a class action suit filed against them. It is ludicrous that they believe they can get away with such behavior.
