Scenic Vacations, Inc. Convinced us to listen to 90 minute sales presentation by guaranteeing free airline travel, hotel, rental car Augusta, Georgia

Scenic Vacations, Incorporated, mailed us a postcard offering us two free US airline tickets, two free hotel nights, and free rental car, if we would attend a 90 minute sales presentation in Augusta GA. We went and were given paperwork to complete to get the tickets; it is ridiculously complicated and requires a $150 payment up front just to be able to apply to use the "freebies." Not only that, the salesman became rude and verbally insulting when we told him we were not interested in the almost-$9000 travel club membership.

We checked the company, Smart Travel and Incentive, Inc., which supposedly handles the promised travel.  Online complaints to the Better Business Bureau confirmed our fears (from reading the paperwork provided) that Smart Travel and Incentives, INC., makes it so difficult to arrange the promised travel, that one risks paying the $150 deposit and getting NO travel in return. As a result, we have decided not to try to use the "free" tickets, hotel room, rental car.

It appears to be a scam that works like this: Scenic Vacations, Inc., promises free travel through Smart Travel and Incentives, Inc.  Smart Travel and Incentives, Inc., then charges $150 up front and says it never promised free travel and cannot control what other companies promise.  They also  make it so difficult to secure the "free" travel that many people give up and get nothing, even losing their $150 deposits in the process.
