My 17 yr old son bought a scooter about a month ago from Jerry at Scooters 2 go on Didvision in GR.  They had advertised a scooter my son was interested in for $699.  (my son had saved up $900 last year for buying a scooter this spring)  Jarod, my son wanted to go to Scooters 2 Go by himself though I offered to go with him.  He insisted on doing it himself which of I was proud of.  When my son arrived home on his new scooter he began to tell me how things went.  He was smiling ear to ear about his first "big" purchase.  When I asked how much money it left him in out of the money he saved up he said just a few dollars....Turns out he told Jerry about saving up money all year for it and even bragged how much he saved to him.  Well this sleeze bag must have seen my son coming a mile away...still not real savvy when it comes to purchase transactions this large, he believed every word Jerry from Scooters 2 Go said when he told him that the price on this one (even though advertised for $699) was $849....$900 with tax.  WOW, exactly the same amount my son had svaed up.  I immediately went back on Craigslist to see if the same moped scooter was still advertised by them and sure enough, the exact model my son bought still being advertised for $699!!!

Update:  We just got back from Scooters 2 Go.  I went in with my son to see what Jerry had to say about charging my son $150 more than we saw him advertise it for online.  This guy is a real piece of work....he talked around the subject and ultimately told me that ALL SALES ARE FINAL PERIOD and my son should not have boughten it if he thought it was too much money.  Lesson learned for my son I guess.

Update:  The scooter my son got from Scooters 2 Go is such a piece of junk.  It never started right and now won't start at all just 2 weeks later!!!!!  I called Jerry personally to see about taking a look at it for us.  He said my son did not purchase the warranty but if we brought it by he could check it out....for $50!!!!!! What???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don't let your son or daughter do business with this guy.....He is a SCAM ARTIST!!!!!

Needless to say, we are shopping for a new scooter for my son....and now I'll have to loan money to my son so he can get back and forth to work.

Scooters 2 Go.... Un-Ethical Business, No concious, Rip-off Artist, Rude and out to take advantage of any unsuspecting consumer they can to make a buck!~

Very Happy With Scooters-2-Go

AUTHOR: deb - (United States of America)

First of all, to Trevor, I hope you realize by now that it was NOT the owner of Scooters-2-go that called you a nutjob. It was another of his customers. (who, in my opinion, was a little harsh; but right)

My 18 year old son also saved for a long time to purchase his scooter. We did a lot of research and ended up at Scooters-2 go...The people we worked with were wonderfully helpful. We chose to put together the scooter ourselves to save on money.  The prices were clear and we paid exactly what we expected to; but more importantly, the service has been amazing.  They were very clear to my son how important it was to change his oil frequently, something they didn't HAVE to stress to him. And if they hadn't, they would probably get a lot more money on repairs.  They've been great about answering questions over the phone if he's got a problem, and just today he went in for a repair that cost him all of ONE dollar. Seriously - who even does that anymore?

I suspect that "Trevor" has some kind of grudge against Jerry fro some reason and it's a shame that it ended up on here.

I don't think an unemancipated 17 year old can legally be a party to any contractural signing or vehicle purchase. Unless you've turned him out on his own (emancipation) it would seem as the whole thing could go away as a non-binding, non-legal sale. Money and scooter returned.

Jarod Who?

AUTHOR: Jerry Persons - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 02, 2012
I am Jerry, the owner of Scooters To Go. We have searched our records and cannot locate any sale to a Jarod this year. I have never been contacted as mentioned by the disgruntled customer in the compllaint and he certainly didn't come in and tell me I overcharged his son $150. If this is a real complaint, the only way "Jarod" could have spent that much more money would be to have purchased a bigger, better, more expensive scooter.

Here are some facts:

1. We sell some scooters on a cash-and-carry basis (in the box) for those people who would like to save some money and assemble the scooter themselves. These units come with the standard manufacturers warranty which is for defective parts but not labor.

2. We offer customers a FULLY assembled scooter with DOUBLE the manufacturers warranty and INCLUDE labor for $150 more.

3. Our advertised prices are as stated. We never charge more than advertised on any item- although some times we sell for less :)

If the customer purchased a scooter in the box either myself or the manufacturer can provide them with replacement parts at no charge if they are defective. If they want us to work on the scooter, there will be a labor charge of some amount. There is no arbitrary $50 or anything like that. Most problems are diagnosed within 1/2 half hour and repaired with less than 1 hour of labor.

If the customer purchased a fully assembled scooter, they may bring the scooter back to us and we will repair it at no charge provided it is still within the warranty timeline and is a manufacturing defect. You can't go crash a scooter and claim it is a warranty item.

Get your receipt and bring it in if this is real. It is just that simple.

Well I guess Scooters 2 Go calling me a "Nut Job" is not a huge suprise.... That is the exact attitude I was welcome with when I called to discuss my concerns with Scooters 2 Go.  First, my report IS Accurate, you over charged my son by $50 based on your advertisement on Craigslist....(Yes, I know what sales tax is and that is not what I was talking about) You purposely mislead your customers, take advantage of them, and then you have the nerve to call them "Nut Jobs"?  Well, there ya go folks, shop at Scooters 2 Go at YOUR OWN RISK...I sure as hell won't be letting my son go back there for ANYTHING!!!!
