Screen Actors Guild/Aftra SAG SAG/AFTRA SAGAFTRA Screen Actors Guild Aftra is worthless and a waste of money to be a ,member in 2012 they do not help Los Angeles, California

The Screen Actors Guild is now SAGAFTRA.ORG  or just SAGAFTRA it is a joined group of SAG and AFTRA.   I became a member back when it was a big deal to join and you had to work your buns off. AFtra basically undercut SAG and took most of the work  because they were cheaper.  Now  They are partners with SAG and there is barely any work for anyone who is not 21 and looks 18 to look younger.

This is really an organized crime organization basically. They get all of us to pay them high amounts of money to join and we basically get to VOTE, try to go to some screenings for free. They are getting to be very diificult to attend since all of the AFTRA people are members we barely had enough for plain Members of SAG. I think that something needs to be done with SAG. they need to have the ATTORNEY general to look into their practices.  I find that they allow thousands of people to join knowing they have no benefits, no work.  Most unions help you get work. NOT AFTRASAG it is a total rip off

They do not allow everyone to have:

1. INSURANCE
2. ATTEND Film Screenings  when they are offered. You must really try to hustle and reply they are
   usually filled up in the first 10 minutes at one point computer servers have CRASHED because
    so many people want to see free films and get a glimpse of BRAD PITT,  Denzell Washington,
    or anyone who is acting in a movie and coming to promote under SAG Foundation or from a
    studio that wants SAGAFTRA members to VOTE so they can make more money and we can fight
    over the 10 union spots they have for BACKGROUND, STAND IN, or any of the under five jobs
3.  Medical Benefits are not for ALL members

this union is worthless and in most cases if you do have a complaint with a studio. SAGAFTRA takes sides with the studio. So words of wisdom if you are on the set and you are given a LINE to say by the director. ASK FOR YOUR CONTRACT right then because they always figure out a way to BEAT you and AFTRASAG will NOT be on your side.

this union should be  ABOLISHED they are only taking wannabee actors jobs. There should be someone to investigate and send out some sort of forms to ALL members and find out how much work they have gotten being a member of sag. You're better off being NON union and just being on YOUTUBE or any other self promotions and stating your own money

many are signing up with Honorable Withdrawl because you get the same benefits but you don't have to pay . When you didnt' work the basics was like $59 but now that they've merged and they lied and told us that the rates would not increase. of course they did now if you do not work you have to pay about $99  every quarter. Although you can claim on taxes but you don't get it back its only a deduction.

They have a SAG Conservatory that is worthless. They do not really help anyone through their lowsy training.  They offer classes through Sag Conservatory but everytime you go they want you to donate money. As if they don't get enough money from the union dues. they hire all these people in their office thru MONSTER  or other job sources. I think those jobs should be for union members who need to rake in some extra income.

I do not feel that sagaftra has done its duty. They look out for Johnny Depp, BRAD PItT and all the BIG names but the reall people who keep this union going are the ones who pay the money and borrow from friends, family, or work odd jobs to remain in union so that they can have a chance to make more money. But how much longer? when will SAG stop trying to beat the little people this organization is crooked and in my opinion they are ORGANIZED CRIME. its hould be against the law to steal from people.

also they allow other companies around Los Angeles to  run scams. Many times members have reported SCAM companies to SAG and they simply stated they are within the rules. Even if the company used a FAKE or misleading film name SAG would basically protect them. They are basically criminals and what they are doing should not be allowed as a union.

The best Union is IATSE for the workers who are behind the scenes they seem to be FAIR with their members but the ACTORS union is pitiful. Someone should do something. How long are union members of AFTRASAG going to let them screw them over on every thing. We pay and pay for WHAT??? we get nothing.  The producers have become more and more cheap. I think that SAG should shut down. They are worthless and the members who are super wealthy do not need them.

The ones on the bottom need them but they don't really help them. There are too many people in sagaftra for it to work because there is very little work and they hire outside the actors pool for the office. They always want us to VOLUNTEER. Hey sagaftra you want to get paid send us some MONEY making jobs. We cannot volunteer pay us or at least if we volunteer give us a voucher where you can take the money off our dues. That is NOt fair
i hope somone is listening. isnt there anyone out there who knows and understands that this company is UNFAIR and they are crooks???

God help us all.. AFTRASAG is no more than stealing our money and paying themselves. they are not really helping actors in this town. You have homeless actors who are members of screen actors guild

I was headed to a meeting once when i first joined and I saw Morgan Fairchild. She was talking to some other members and she stated, "Sag should not allow anymore members. We cannot afford anymore members."  I overheard her and thought she was being unfair. SHE WAS BEING REALISTIC. They keep on letting people join, knowing they dont' really have positions for them.

If you are on a reality tv show after a few episodes you must become a member of the union.

I feel that AFTRASAG or whoever they are now, needs to be investigated in my opinion their actions are criminal and they should not be tolerated. They are a union. What other union do you know of treats its members in such a way and I feel that we pay more money then other unions and get NOTHING.  How long will people continue to buy into this fantasy. this union should be ABOLISHED it is worthless and its quite apparent the producers have spoken thats why they are requesting 90% NON union actors, selecting new actors, using AUDIENCE members and paying them in CASH to avoid SAGAFTRAS crazy rules. SAGAFTRA does not hold a chance within the next 10 years.  The union is over. 

They are not treating members fairly they are ripping them off. NON UNION WORKERS get more jobs.  The Union demands money and they give you NOTHING. They can't even allow their own members to be seat fillers or work SAG AWARDS  one year we had to mail in like $1500 and then if we got selected we could get two tickets if not they would mail our money back. YEAH RIGHT that was stupid. they only sell us stuff and make us pay for their salaries.

SAGAFTRA SUCKS and they should be ABOLISHED we do not need them.its a new UNIONLESS world and i think that we should probably sit down with the leaders of SAGAFTRA and try to make some changes for the ACTORS because the way we are headed is down a long costly road with zero benefits.
