Sealy admits in writing that my mattress is defective exceeding their 1.5 inched depression requirement, and after spending over $700.00 on the mattress they want me to pay them $120.00 just to ship a replacement mattress.

They refused to allow me to pick up a replacement up locally at one of their dealers, AND they refuse to credit me what I spent to buy another mattress locally.

Some lawyers need to jump on this wagan and sue the crap out of Sealy and all the other mattress companies for this process.

Now my $700.00 mattress is really only worth $580.00 since I have to fork over additional money for a defective mattress they should be replacing for FREE.

This shipping charge is nothing more than the actual cost of the mattress which they are trying to recoup form buyers who have been sold defective items to begin with.

NO shipping company charges $120.00 to ship a mattress, NO ONE!!!

With all things in life you have to pay shipping. I had filed a warranty on my television and had to pay $70.00 for shipping so $120.00 for a mattress seems cheap. This report is crap.

I work for a furniture store that sells Sealy. You should be able to go to the original place of purchase to resolve your issue. The original store that sold it to you has the power to replace it at no cost. I know 've done it many times. arantee that they are not responsible for shipping charges. The 125.00 or 150.00 is about right for shipping because they will send it to you by tractor trailer. I hope this helps you out.

All Mattress companies do this - read your warranty card

All mattress companies have a "transportation clause" in their warranty.

Even if you pick it up the mattress still has to get to the place you picked it up from. I am sure this is a way of Mattress companies offsetting their loss as all companies do.

There is always a catch, look for words in warrantys, like "restocking fee", "transportation costs", "fuel charge", and the list goes on.

My suggestion is to ask for the warranty before you buy the product so that you can read it and ask questions. You wouildn't sign an insurance paper without reading it would you?

Be and "informed consumer" and you will have less likelyhood of being taken advantage of.

It sounds like the fee is much less than replacing the mattress, so you just have to weigh your options and make a decision based on how much money you want to be out in the long run, would you rather be out a hundred and something dollars or $1000.00, I say a $1,000.00 dollars because a mattress that you purchased two years ago that cost $700.00 would proably run you closer to a $1000.00 today.

Also try upgrading to a better mattress for a little more money, that will still cost you less than a new mattress, just a suggestion, hope I was helpful.
