SEO Reputation Management at its best!

With my family going through financial difficulty, I arranged to participate in a "Match Program" through Sears Mastercard/Citi card. This program would allow us to pay up to a maximum of $599.00 and they would "match" this amount on our account. We had this agreement over the phone (with a name and confirmation number). When we called back to make the payment of $600.00, verification was noted of the program, & payment was made...all was well. Two weeks later we called back to verify cleared payment of our check and that they "matched" our payment. To our surprise they could not find ANY information regarding our agreement in the match program nor record of our conversations. We could not get any help. They would not match our money as prior agreed to nor would they allow us to talk to a manager! We have confirmation numbers and names with codes for each person we have talked too! No one is willing to listen or help! They have no character or belief in backing up what they say. We made sacrifice to come up with the $600.00 in good faith and with no regard they broke their end of the agreement. We since have begun the ordeal of contacting through emails and letters those who may be able to right this terrible wrong. Is there any justice?

One lowly David amongst a world of Goliath's!

Same thing

AUTHOR: burt1980 - (United States of America)

The EXACT thing happened to me.  I called Citicards trying to get a reduced interest rate because of a recent job loss. I was told no arrangement could be made unless my balance was lowered.  Then the CSR proceeds to offer me the matched payment. I told her I would think about it and call back. Two days later I called back to confirm participation in the program. I asked about making the payment. I made the payment. I called to verify the match was made. Well I was told by 2 CSRs and a manager that there was no record of me calling back to verify participation. And there was nothing I could do.

They certainly said they were sorry a thousand times and they could understand why I was so upset. Yeah right...I am the one without a job and could have held on to that $600.

Not a good deal!

AUTHOR: Jay - (U.S.A.)

Stacked,

You have to be very careful with the Sears Mastercard/Citi Card Group because it is not a good deal for the consumer.

For example, during a Sears Employee meeting, we were told and warned too expect more complaints from customers because the Sears Mastercard/Citi Card Group had shortened the Grace Period.

As far as I am concerned this is a Scam!

Here is how the Scam works and let us see if you can figure it out as I describe what they are doing. Please keep in mind that it is perfectly legal.

The closing date for the top of the line Sears Gold Mastercard is on the 8th of the month. I don't get the bill until the 19th and the due date is for the 28th.

Now do you see what is going on?

Keep in mind that they shortened the grace period!

To me, it is not a big deal because I always pay off the balance. But for a lot of people who struggle from pay check to paycheck, this will cause them to incur interest and the rates they are charging rival loan sharks!

Good luck to you!

Nice thought...

AUTHOR: Stacked - (U.S.A.)

Nice thought...unfortunately, this program is a TRUE program offered by Sears Credit Card/Citi Card as a part of their "hardship" program. It was offered to us through their customer service department. All information is accurate according to their own records. Three seperate times we were able to locate the correct confirmation number and information, when the money was placed and it was time for THEM to cough it up...mysteriously...ALL information disappeared! Phone records can be called up in a court of law!

Where exactly did you get any info on this alleged program?

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

There is nothing about it on the net. Are you sure you weren't scammed by someone and not a company at all?
