This scam solicited my used cell phone for $10. It was a new phone but i switched carriers and had no use for it. Sellyourcell.com sent me a postage page box and I sent them the phone and charger. The check never came. When I emailed them and reported them to the federal trade commission and the pennsylvania attorney general's office, they emailed me saying the phone was defective and if i wanted it returned i had to pay them $5. The phone was most definitely NOT defective.

SellYourCell.com Under New Ownership

AUTHOR: SellYourCell.com - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, February 14, 2011

Even though this report is a couple years old I thought it would be worth letting people that see it know that SellYourCell.com has been under new ownership for about a year.  Our number one priority is good customer service.  I don't know what happened in Lynn's situation to know who was at fault but rest assured that SellYourCell is dedicated to excellent customer service under the new ownership.  Give us another try.

Not all unhappy customers are victims.

AUTHOR: Keith - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 14, 2005

Our company buys used cell phones, and we do make money on them, but only if they work.

Our terms and conditions, which this customer agreed to, state that we do not buy broken phones and sets minimum criteria for what phones we will accept and pay for.

This customer simply sent us a bad phone, or it broke during shipment. Either way, we cannot use it.

Here is the math: It costs us $4.00 per phone received in advertising costs, and another $6.00 for round trip shipping, for a total of $10.00 to get her phone to us. A phone that is no good.

Now, this customer, which likely knew her phone was no good wants us to pay her $10.00 for it, and has complained in lieu of payment for a broken item.

Again, in our terms and conditions (which the customer agreed to) we explain that if you send in a phone we cannot use, the phone is still yours, but you must pay the $5.00 actual cost of return shipping to get it back. We make no money on this, and in fact lose money (see above) on every bad phone taken in.

We have explained to the customer that no company in the world is going to try to rip somebody off for $10.00. It simply isn't worth it.

At this point, we feel pretty confident that this "customer" is working for one of our less reputable competitors in an unfortunate attempt to tarnish our reputation.

We are a 5-year-old FL corporation, and members of the Better Business Bureau, and we strive to take of our customers.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
