Serenity House is a For-Profit business which takes advantage of desperate recovering addicts and alcoholics and their loved ones by taking a large "Deposit" at the onset of the sober living arrangement and then evicting the tenant, often without any evidence of relapse, but only after collecting rent for a new month. Thus, the turn over rate in this "Sober Living Facility"  is high but not due to just cause. The Sober House atmosphere is corrupt and greed driven rather than positive and supportive. The owner, Leland , manipulates his resident evictions always after collecting a new months rent thus gaining greater monetary gain by a high turnover rate versus actually creating a positive environment to become sober.

Not under new management. PLEASE AVOID!

This house is not under new management. The owner has remarried  and the person she said isn't involved is once again involved. However, it was just as bad even when he wasn't there. After staying at the house for about 9 months, I know a thing or two about how its run. Just an FYI, I'm still sober and working my program.  First off, on average, I would say people last about a month or two here. My whole house rotated in and out people on a weekly basis. Either because they screwed up, or because the owner had them kicked out. If you think the owner gives a s**t, you're very wrong. Only one lady here, I'll call her C, genuinely cares. She should be the owner. The manager has this funny little trick where she'll find a reason to kick you out at the beginning of the month AFTER you've paid that months rent. That way, you don't get a refund, she keeps your money, and gets another 1100 from whatever unfortunate new soul takes your place. However, she does let those people back into the house, even if they had been using or drinking again, if they pay another deposit fee. Oh, but then she will kick you out again a week later when you fail a UA that you were never going to pass in the first place. The manager doesn't really care, about you, or about your sobriety. She cursed at me multiple times and threatened to kick me out multiple times. She knows exactly who I am but I don't care. If you're reading this and you want to get sober, or want a loved one to get sober, PLEASE look elsewhere. I don't want other people putting their sobriety in jeopardy by coming to this place. I don't even know how I lasted that long at this place. It's a miracle if you ask me but I like to think it's because I put my sobriety in other places, not the houses. I stayed busy as not to ever really be at the house. I worked and hung out with friends while attending meetings and it worked for me. I stayed sober. I do FULLY agree that a sober living home is a great place to get better in recovery, but not this one. I'm not some angry resident who is trying to get back at anyone. I am sober, living in my recovery, and genuinely concerned about the well being of the people who are in and out of this house. I'm sure there's a lot of people who are pissed because they screwed up, but I'm not that guy. I'm giving you an honest account of my time here and looking out for the interest of everyone who is considering this sober living home.

Really?

While the owner of Serenity House would likto you to think it's under new management. Don't be fooled. The "new management" is the ex wife of the previous management. And Leland, the previous manager, still lives there. Serenity Houses do have one good aspect. with all the drama that happens there, addicts are thrown into chaos and challenged to stay   Clean and sober. To move in, they charge a 1500 non - refundable deposit. don't be fooled. Save your money
