Hello!

I signed up with their service a year and a half ago, and they send me leads a couple of times a month during the busy season.....What they do is send out the customer lead to at least three contractors, and then they scramble to contact the customer. They then charge each contractor $9 or $12, so they make their money no matter what happens... Luckily, when I have gotten their automated voice mails, I dial the number of the lead on my other phone. This way, I make sure that if the lead is serious, I will be the first one on the phone with them. Because of my fast response, I have gotten probably 12 out of the last 15 jobs they sent me.

The problem, as what the other reporters said, comes when the leads turn out to be dead....their policy states that they refuse to refund lead $ "when the customer changes their mind" which is extremely unfair. They claim that dead leads are built into their "low low pricing structure". They also refused to refund several lead $ to me when their system failed to leave me a usable voice message and text message. I went back and forth with them, and they flatly refused to refund anything even when their system failed to give me the lead. This to me is a RIPOFF, and why I am filing this report.

#6 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Unbelievable

Everyone I was associated with told the truth to the contractors, They even used ROI examples during the presentation. After they were approved many added their own tasks against the advice of the rep because they new how to best get them business. As an example a General contractor adding countertop repairs and then upset he got one? The other thing that really amazes me is that people listen to these people without doing any other research. On this site alone check out other national companies. Take your pick. Servicemagic as of today as 22 reports against it. Disneyland has 17? Walmart is off the charts but everyone still uses them

Rooterman,

What you just posted made no sense at all......this is a form of advertisment, not confirmed jobs. So if you advertise in your town paper and none of the leads you get from there turn out to be jobs do you consider that a RIPOFF and ask for your money back????????????

By your own admission you were able to secure a large number of appointments using ServiceMagic. A lead is a piece of information, not an appointment. A consumer has filled out a form requesting more info/contractor input, not filled out an appointment sheet or financing request.
