I purchased a flat panel chicken coop heater with a built in thermostat from Shop The Coop on 2/25/13. After 3 days, my order still showed as pending, and I sent an email to the company.

2/28, Me: Why is my order still pending?

2/28, Melonie Kotchey: Hello I will look into it. It may be weather delays, hang on.

3/4, Me: Ok. It's been a week, still nothing. No response from you in 4 days, either. Not very good business practice. Maybe you should just refund my money, and I'll buy one from your competitor.

3/4, Melonie Kotchey: Melanie! I a, trying to get you a tracking number- I am sorry. It should be there any day now.

On 3/5, I received a packing slip in an email from Melonie Kotchey, but no tracking number. More emails: 3/5, Me: I received a packing slip, but no tracking number. It says it shipped UPS...don't they always provide a tracking number?

3/5, Melonie Kotchey: That's correct Melanie. It clearly states at checkout and in the item description this ships from the manufacturer. So you will receive your heater this week from them. Ups tracking is 1xxxxxxxxxxxxxx7 Thanks again, I sent you a heater with a built in thermostat as an upgrade as well, since you sent so many in received emails and disgruntled ones too. Thanks. She upgraded me? To what? I bought the most expenside one she had...and when? According to her, my order had already shipped....now I am highly irritated.

3/5, Me: I purchased the heater with the built in thermostat in the first place! What do you mean, you upgraded me? Are you trying to tell me, that because I am disgruntled, you are upgrading me to something I have already purchased? Guess what that tells me? It tells me that you didn't really upgrade me, you are just saying that. And, if you did really upgrade my order (which you didn't) that means it took you an entire week to get my information to your manufacturer, as my order was just shipped today. And so what if it ships straight from the manufacturer? You are still the person I purchased from, and are therefore responsible for whether it gets to me or not! Your little comment at the end of the email you just sent was clearly meant to try to make me feel bad for sending irritated emails..nice try, but I could care less. I own a business myself, and if I did business the way you do, I'd never make any money! You are the President of your company! Get it together!

3/5, Me: You are not very smart. By the way, you need to proof read your website..huge amount of typos. You are just pissed because I called you on your very poor customer service. I complained because I have a right to, because you can't get your facts straight. And saying, "Don't bother to ever order from me again"...why the hell would I? For that matter, when everyone on all the chicken forums sees what you so stupidly wrote to me, neither will anyone else! I am quite sure that when I get done plastering this all over the internet, your business will surely suffer. Good luck with that, maybe next time you decide to fire off a nasty email to a customer who is clearly in the right, you'll think twice. Or, on second thought, probably not. I don't give you that much credit. You had better hope my order arrives correct and undamaged, or you will certainly have to deal with me again. I'd love to stay and chat, but I have to get busy copying and pasting this train of emails on all those sites....starting with Facebook.

3/6, Me: You just keep diggin' yourself in deeper, girl. I'm sure everyone will love the 'screw you' part. I wonder how many people will read all of this before you finally find it....and the Better Business Bureau is gonna be appalled. Hopefully, I won't be asking for a refund, as all I wanted from the beginning was the chicken coop heater I ordered and paid you for. My chickens are pets, too. If they weren't, do you really think I'd spend $155 on a heater? And guess what...you made a little money off the whole deal. Then you have the poor sense to challenge me, when your emails tell the whole story. You should be ashamed of yourself, a business owner acting that way. Anyone who reads all of this will agree, that you handled this whole thing in the worst way possible. And on top of that, 'screw you'? Nope...looks like you are the one who's gonna be screwed.

3/6, Melonie Kotchey: Stop harassing me. I didn't even read this email .I reported you to your local police. Move singing red head.You can't keep threatening me lady, Please do yourself a favor and get a life.I am blocking your emails. Any future ones will be reported, yet again.

What? 'Move singing redhead?' What does that mean? There are more emails from her, some that she tried to make look like they came from gmail, saying, 'message not received'. She reads them, all right. Thanks to an email notifying system, I can see that she has read, and still is reading, every email we exchanged. She also tried reporting me to several spam organizations, and tried to report me to my local police. who have ignored her completely. I received my coop heater..and it is exactly the one I ordered. Upgraded me, did she?

Continued harrassment by Melonie Kotchey

Almost an entire year later, Melonie Kotchey of Shop The Coop has nothing better to do than search for me on the internet, find a very small poor resolution picture of me, see a post that I made in a local quilt fabric shop's Facebook page, and make up a huge story about how I worked there, and she was a disgruntled customer. She then posted this story here in the Rip Off Report, along with my personal information. Read all about it:

'Melanie Mann Rodgers is the most un-professional person we have ever worked with in 20 years. She screamed over the phone about not knowing what we wanted to order. She called me a stupid b**** and other obcenities that are too offensive to even type. I debated on cutting and pasting the entire conversation from her, but it is horrific.

I will never order from this company again. I have also filed with the better business bureau, but they only want their membership fees for the year, and their not going to help me with this hostile, mentally ill person. It is sad. I simply want other to know, if you order something through your family from this company or deal with this person, do not expect to get a quilt. Fortunetly, my check was not cashed, as I stopped it in time after not receiving anything for 3 months prior to needing this before the Holiday's. Bad Karma, and terrible, horrific person...She is listed on Facebook and appears to treat others commonly.

God bless her. She threatned me, my home, and my family. I filed a police report in my local municipality against her, and fortunetly blocked her so she may not contact or harrass me anymore.'

Melonie Kotchey also added my name, address, and phone number to this report.

I do not, nor have I ever, worked at the Golden Quilt Company. I am a shopper there. They do not sell quilts..they sell fabric. It is obvious that this is a fabricated lie, and in one sentence, she says I screamed at her over the phone, and in the next, she wanted to copy and paste it? From where? Was Dragon software writing down the entire conversation as we spoke? She also wrote it as 'anonymous', to try and hide, but it's obviously her, as is evidenced by the poor spelling, and the use of some of the exact same words, like 'horrific', and 'karma' and God bless'.

If you do business with Shop the Coop, with Melonie Kotchey, and she screws up your order....you will be the one in the wrong, and she will go out of her way to try to do nasty things to you. There are multiple complaints about her here, and with the BBB. Check them out before you buy anything from her.
