This guy came up to them and asked them to be honest with him. "Are you stealing anything?", looking at my Sister (which has some peircings and dark eye liner).
At first they thought he was kidding, but to their suprise he wasn't. So they replied, "no". He didn't believe them and wanted to take her to the back office.
"Mary" and I have a power of attorney over my little sister so she made sure she went also. By this time this situation has caught the attention of customers waiting to check out. So "Mary" and "Lucy" felt very embarrassed.
While in the office he accussed them of stealing; calling them "thieves" and "liars". Even showed them the video of them shopping, which showed no suspicious activitiy. While in the office "Mary" tried to call her dad to say she wasn't going to be able to return his car back in time, so he could get to school, but the manager wouldn't let him.
After hours of interrogation and actually finding the shirt he thought they stole ($5 clearance item) he continued by calling the cops. He told them that they would have to get stripped searched at the police station after the cop came and picked them up.
Either right before or while the cop was there "Mary" asked if they could just get searched now instead of wasting more time going to the police station. At this time "Mary" and "Lucy" just wanted to get out of there.
So two women employees of shopko took "Mary" and "Lucy" to the changing room area to perform a strip search. They were not taken into the actual stalls but in the hall way that takes to the differnt stalls.
"Mary" and "Lucy" were both worried people could see in or maybe even cameras. Especially since "Mary" had no bra on.
On there way back to the office after being violated they hear the cop tell the manager that he has to sincerely say he was sorry. He said, "on behalf of shopko Im sorry", but not in a sincere way. So "Mary" and "Lucy" headed out and the cop asked, "well, weren't you going to buy something". So after all that the cop still treats them like crap. And also "Mary" tried getting her police report for the shopko experience and they wouldn't give it to her.
When "Mary's" parents found out, they called corporate right away. After talking to the manager they were told that they would get a couple of hundred dollars to spend at shopko and the employee would get fired. "Mary" told him she'll think about it and tried to get a hold of a lawyer and was directed to a state's attorney. Both of them said they didn't know what she can do about it.
So thinking nothing was going to be done with the situation she decided to take the couple of hundred. When "Mary" and "Lucy" showed up to recieve the money they changed the offer to only a hundred dollars for both of them. So they didn't except it and also saw the asst. manager (that put them in the situation) lookin at them still working.

Search TipsAt no time do we approach anyone on the sales floor. Our company policy is that its not theft until they walk out the doors. Second we do not search especially strip search ANYONE no matter what the sex of the offendor is. Third, they found the merchandise obviously on someone walking around the sales floor that was concealed....all though you did not exit....state law classifies this as theft. Fourth, we dont offer money to anyone when it comes to these situations. I also know the LP person in that store during that time as I worked with them at NO time was there ever this situation in the past 10 years.....take your crap somewhere else.

There are two things that immediatly stand out to me in this report as complete fabrication. The first is the fact that you alledge to have been approached inside the store while shopping and accused of stealing. This NEVER would have happened. Even if your sister had concealed merchandise, it is Shopko's policy to wait until you have passed all points of sale before making a stop. Not only that, but Illinois law requires "Intent" in order to support a retail theft charge. Simply concealing the merchandise is not always considered intent in a court of law, and there is no way anyone inside Shopko would take that chance do to the lawsuits that could arise.
The second thing that stands out is the strip search. I have worked in retail my entire adult life and there is no retailer that would allow a strip search of ANY customer, especially if they saw absolutly nothing on video as you claim. No police department would allow that either in my opinion.
I did think of a third thing while writting this. If this incident had Actually occured, and police responded, there would be reports. Both by shopko and the police. And Your girlfriend and sister would both be legally entitled to them. No police department, states attorney, nor Shopko could deny you these. If they did, you would have a legal case that would end in a settlement supporting you the rest of your life.
If you have an issue with a retailer, trying to smear thier image by making stories is a childish way to solve the issue. And if your going to make something up, at least make it somewhat factual.
