Shoppers Market Research Just wrong to do to people!!! New York New York

I received a check enclosed in a letter along with two forms. I was told to deposit the check for $3770. I was told to use the money in this way, as per the letter: $100/hour x 3= $300, money gram transfer amount: $3200, services charges: $170, and funds for shopping: $100. The letter was signed by Chris Lucas (not Christopher or Christine), Director Operations (employment).

This is supposed to be a secret shopper offer. They want you to go to various places and complete a check list of services and physical condition of the locations. You are, then, to send, via Money Gram, the $3200, to Stancy Wills, in Queens, NY or Mike Phillips, in Bronx, NY. You are to evaluate the customer service and competence of these Money Gram locations. However, you are also instructed to contact the Accounts Manager, who's name is not given.

When you try to call the number on the letter, it only gives you a voice mail recording of the number ("you have called 403-400-5730") and the beep. It doesn't identify the company or give you any information whatsoever.

What struck me the most, is that the check doesn't match the company on the letter. SavaSeniorCare Admin Services is a nursing home owner conglomerate. What purpose would it have for writing checks for a marketing research firm to conduct secret shops at K-Mart?
