I read Dawn & Mike's report and it was like I had found a friend!! My episode began in April when we went house shopping and I went on-line to Lendingtree.com to see about home mortgages.
Once I applied they recommended Shore Mortgage, I was contacted by Rachael Winters, and she asked for a "Good Faith" deposit, which was credited against my Visa account. She said this would be subtracted from our deposit on the house we would be purchasing. I did not sign any papers, everything was done over the phone, and the information she recieved for the process was faxed. When we did chose a realtor and house, the realtor advised to use a Local Lender.
I called Rachael and explained (this was about the 1st week of May) and to please refund my money. She directed me to her supervisor, Randy, who went through the whole "song & dance" of. We can do it Better, Faster, Cheaper, etc.
Anyway, because of his "pressure" approach, I said I would think about it and call him back. I called about 1 week later, left a voice mail ( didn't want to go through that again!!!) and told him we would be going through a local lender and to please refund my money.
I called Rachael on several occasions to see what the "hold up" was.
Finally about the middle of July, she leaves a voice mail stating that it would take 45 days after the "KILL DATE" of the loan to recieve the refund. I called her back several times leaving messages, to please advise me of the KILL DATE, so I would know when to expect the refund. NO CALL.
Around the 25th of August, I recieved a letter from Shore Mortgage stating that they could not process the loan, due to "lack of information". I left another message for Rachael to please contact me about this, it was looking like that was the KILL letter.
Nothing from Rachael, so August 1st I wrote and mailed a letter to Shore Mortgage, explaining everything and asking for a response. I have since left Rachael several voice mails. NO RESPONSE from ANYONE!
It takes me awhile, I didn't want to think that I was getting RIPPED OFF, but naive me. I Totally GET IT NOW!
