Slick salesperson convinced my elderly mother in rural British Columbia that she needed a very expensive water filtration system. She agreed to this and signed something,a contract I assume, she is unsure and did not get a copy. The company came and installed this $4,000 system and her water pressure dropped to a completely unusable level. She called them and asked them to come back and remove the system. They did, the very next day. The system was never in use as it was unusable. That was a year ago. Recently the TD Bank contacted my mother and advised that they were owed $4,000 and they would start taking the money from her immediately. Wow! There was never a bill, a statement or any other indication ever that this thing was ever going anywhere for a year and suddenly this happens. My mother, of course is cared to death, she cannot afford a $4,000 bill. The company won't answer the phone or return calls when messages are left for them. The Bank does not feel obligated to explain anything. How or why this suddenly came about a year later and questions of that nature. Pretty well thought out scam, I'd say, when you can get a bank that big, with that kind of a reputation to be your muscle, you got it working.
