This was the second time in two years that they have failed to notify me that my account was about to expire.
I gave to woman my new CC info and she proceeded to try and reactivate the receiver I no longer owned. I tried to explain to her that I owned a Sonos system, but she had no clue what I was talking about. After several frustrating minutes I hung up and emailed customer support and vented on them.
A reply came less then 24 hours later apologizing for the lack of notification and was supposed to be credited $10 for all my troubles. Fast forward a few weeks and I'm checking my CC bill and guess what? not only was I not credited to $10, I was charged about $15 more than my original bill. I emailed support several times since, but had no response.
This month I check my bill and find that I'm being charged $70 again for the receiver no longer own. I emailed them AGAIN, and finally got a rambling, almost incoherent response telling me I'm being charged for the second half of my yearly subscription on the receiver I no longer own!
WTF is wrong with these people? Are they hoping I won't notice the extra charges, or are they just that stupid. I tried emailing them again, but this is their last change. It's only because I'm a big Howard Stern fan that I haven't canceled yet. No wonder their stock price is hovering around 60 cents/share!

Search TipsBasically what happened is that Sirius and XM did not actually "merge" but Sirius took over XM. Because of the sad economic state we are in..Sirius could not get the credit to cover their bills. After all think about how much it cost to launch satellites..and pay these big celebs like Stern half a billion dollars..kind of hard to fathom. Now bear in mind sirius has a lot of subscribers and is standing on solid financial ground..and does have money coming in. However another company recently purchased and now holds 40% of sirius stock..the single largest shareholder..and this helped to keep the company afloat.
To cut costs..all calls and much of the companies support is over in India. The problem with this is not only the language barrier..but the fact that no one in India has ever even seen a satellite radio..it is only available in North America. A Sirius XM radio receiver in India would be no more then useful as a door stop. So basically calling customer service is a crap shoot..and the odds are you will speak with someone who really knows nothing about satellite radio.
But with that said..the company really needs it's subscribers and should do the right thing. I highly suggest to keep calling them until you speak with someone who can solve your issue. I know it may be inconvenient..but I highly doubt Sirius XM want's to rip you off..and inevitably lose a customer. So keep at it..you should get this solved eventually.
