After reading the report dated April 5th 2008 I was sadend to see that this company has not fixed this problem. It is one thing to let an employee go because they are not able to do thier job effently but to pressure good people and make thier job increasingly more diffucult evey day is another.
I worked for SkyWest Airlines for three years I loved my job I loved the fast passed atmosphere and I enjoyed the helping the customers with thier travel needs. It felt good to be helpfull. However the Management and supervisors seem to have a unchecked abuse of power. I watched thishappen and unfold in the 3 years that I was there . Sometimes it seemed there were those people they went after.
one lady They went after because her pants were to tight. She was always being written up for something. She like me, liked her job and wanted to stay so she fought back by looking up the regulations and bringing them with her to the meeting when she would get written up. I worked as a c.s. trainer training new hires One supervisor told me to tell the new hires "tell them about me". My best advice to them was to say stay on her good side. The People they didnt like were always Placed in the bad areas to work. If it was a blizard they put you in the walkway. if their was a busy, overcrowed day they would put you at customer service. I knew the girls that were Thier favorites they wore the dresses with stockings garter belts and high heels. Maybe they didnt like me because I thought this was disgusting.
I found that I became so ditraught with worry everyday when I went into work that I couldn't deliver the great customer service that I wanted to give. My mood changed when I came to work everyday. I found it impossible to be helpfull and pleasent to the customers. I tried to tell the management that if you want the agents to give good customer service you have to treat them well. One Supervisor just told me s**t Rolls Down Hill. I knew that I had to leave that I would not be able to fix their problem. so consumers if the gate agent seems really inpatient with you it's probally a deeper problem.
