Smart Cremation approached Rip-Off Report with the intent of wanting to resolve any customer issues and falsities posted on Rip-off Report.
Smart Cremation, as every pre-need funeral services provider, maintains required minimum amounts in trust and abide by statutory refund requirements. Smart has multi-millions of dollars currently in trust for future services of their customers.
Part of the Corporate Advocacy Program the member business allows Ripoff Report to send an email to all of those who filed a complaint in the past, letting them know, the member business wanted to make things right with them. Ripoff Report always monitors these emails to insure the member business does what they agreed to. The one Report that was posted about Smart Creation was found to be false and was not posted by a real customer. Ripoff Report frowns on this kind of behavior. This industry is very competitive and for this reason Ripoff Report suspects the complaint was posted by a competitor.
ABOUT THE CEO, JERRY NORMAN, AND SMART CREMATION
Jerry Norman, CEO of Smart Cremation has over 25 years of experience in the funeral industry. Jerry has been married for over 40 years, has two grown children, and two grandchildren. He currently resides in the Seattle area, where he leads the team of Smart Cremation executives and staff.
Jerry was employed by the Neptune Society as the President and Chief Executive Officer. He and the Neptune Management Corporation agreed to terminate Normans employment relationship on an amicable basis in 2008. Normans primary basis for terminating his relationship, was strong opposition to Neptunes conduct in regards to its non-compliance with trusting and regulatory matters.
The Colorados Commissioner of Insurances investigation that Neptune Society had misled consumers and manipulated prepaid, preneed funeral accounts in order to skirt Colorado law and maximize profits did not result in any injury to a single consumer. Moreover, while Neptunes July 27, 2009, settlement, long after Jerry Normans departure, in which Neptune admitted to violating several aspects of Colorado insurance law, and agreed to a number of provisions to remedy its wrongdoing, these had nothing to do with trusting consumers money or any fraud, and certainly nothing to do with Smart or Norman.

Smart, itself and through its affiliates, in fact owns crematory and holding facilities throughout the country. According to company executives, these facilities are state-of-the-art, respectable, clean, and on continuous video surveillance to ensure the highest customer service and dignity.
Ripoff Report has learned that there are also several retail offices for customers to visit and discuss arrangements. Smart facilities are bright, clean, modern, and simple. The company focuses on cremation and provides very basic, much needed services, then offers to return the cremated remains to loved ones or scatter them at sea.
