I am a hairdresser myself, however I am no longer able to work do to health reasons. On 2/23/06, I went into the "Smart Style Salon" located in the Walmart here in Bardstown. I asked for the most experienced hairdresser and it just so happened I got the store Manager. She sat me in the chair for a brief consultation. I told her EXACTLY what I wanted! So off the the shampoo bowl we went. After the shampoo, we went back to her chair where she kept me FACED AWAY from the mirror the whole time. NO HAIRDRESSER EVER DOES THIS UNLESS THEY ARE AFRAID OF WHAT THE OUTCOME IS GOING TO BE. she starts rolling my hair on perm rods, i told her i wanted alot of curl but not an afro. after all the processing she takes me back to her chair and trims my hair. still im faced AWAY FROM THE MIRROR then she puts some goop on my hair and sits me under a dryer when i got out my hair looked so bad i had tears in my eyes she didnt style it or anything it just hung there i looked like i got caught out in the rain. MY RECOMMENDATION IS TOO NEVER GO TO "SMART STYLE" AGAIN AND NEVER GET THE STYLIST NAMED kEESHIA Prince!!!

I work for the said company in Iowa.

First, I am sure that you got an uneasy feeling in her chair the minute you came back to the chair and were not facing the mirror.
(I am 25 and hate it when my stylist turn a client away from the mirror also, especially when my stylist have been doing hair for 10 to 20 years.)
Second, being an ex hairdresser yourself, I am curious as to why you did not ask her what she was going to do (use) on your hair.
Third, if you are going to respond with, "I didn't want to make her feel awkward by tell her I am a hairdresser, or I shouldn't have to because she is the professional" I won't accept that response! Only because you can ask, and not tell her you are a hairdresser and it is your hair you have the right to know what is going to be done to your hair.
The client always knows more about thier hair more than the hairdresser does, especially if this is the first time kEESHIA Prince!!! has ever done your hair.
So this is not only addressed to you but to all the people who do not open their mouths. You do not have to be rude about getting what you want, but you need to take the bull by the horns and express what you want. Bring in a picture.
Even though I will not be able to cut it exactly like the picture it will be pretty darn close. Please keep in mind everbody goes to different schools and goes to different classes (con-ed). Nobody will ever cut the exactly the same
