What has happened to Smartbox?

We have heard that Smartbox is no longer operating? Through our investigations, we found the following: website has changed, goes to one general webpage where you can't do anything, their phone rings out, smartbox's have been removed from stores like Big W where you purchase them and can longer purchase online and invoices are not being paid to their partners. Have spoken with an ex employee and he was only employed to set the company up for 6 months in Australia then lost his job contrary to being told it was an ongoing position.

This has huge ramifications for accommodation providers who are accepting guests with these vouchers as they won't get paid from Smartbox, and huge ramifications for the guests who have received vouchers as gifts and need to use them before the expiry date. A lot of accommodation providers are not aware of this situation. They have 8 booklets and this will affect over 800 providers.

We were advised from another accommodation provider and have been trying to contact other providers as no-one can accept guests with these vouchers until confirmation of whether this company has gone down or if they will pay our invoices.
