My husband and I signed a contract with Solar Shield in the fall of 2002. The purpose of said contract was to purchase and install a metal roofing system. After installation, we received a lifetime"Registered Warranty."
Last year (2010) we needed a new piece to replace a damaged portion; only to be informed they were no longer in business.
Well, again this year (2011) we developed a leak and had another roofing company come investigate. Well, it appears the roof was not properly installed from the get go. So--We are left holding the bag. We have a choice: (1) remove the old roof to fix the problem and replace the old metal (which may or may not be in good condition once it is removed). If some panels are good and some bad, the bad ones will have to replace with another brand which will not match the current color -- How much fun is that? (2) Replace the entire roof at almost double the cost of option one.
Decided to replace entire roof -- good thing -- there was a lot of water damage.
We purchased this system in "good faith" fully expecting it to perform as portrayed by the company. We had hoped our roofing headaches would be over for a LONG time to come. Well, that HOPE was dashed.
I wonder if the Solar Shield Industries in FL has any connection with this one??

The company Solar Shield Industries is owned by Frank Mckinney from Lady Lake FL. They work out of an office at 4441 SE 53rd Ave in Ocala FL 34481 His direct cell # is 813-299-1773 he has been operating in florida and alabama for about 15 years as a licensed contractor and licensed roofing contractor:

He partners with others to sale and install the roofs providing a lifetime written transferrable warrenty on installation and repairs until someone calls for repairs and then they say it must be another company that is no longer in business this is something that happends all of the time. I would recommend going to the court house to see if a permit was pulled when they done the roof which should show the license holder for this job. They are a scam and charge 2 times as much as any other roofing contractors in the southeast for the same product and installion.

I responded to the complainant in writing informing them that we are not the company that installed their roof nor are we associated in any way with this company. The only thing we have in common is a simllar name. I suggested for these people to look up the corporation through the internet as filed with the State of Alabama and find the name and address of the the owner and write them personally if previous communication was ignored. I nor my company installed this roof. They also need to look up the contractor who pulled the permit he would be the one responsible for the repair.
