Purchased a Sony KDL52XBR4 in 2008 and after two years, the entire LCD Television panel is defective. We spoke with Sony directly and they tried to help fix the defect over the phone, however, after an hour on the phone with someone in Mexico, we were told that the panel had to be repaired. We called a local authorized Sony repair center and once they arrived and observed the problem, they proceded to tell me that the cost of a new panel would be $2600.00 and that there were no serviceable parts to replace, as the panel was a factory sealed part. We paid $3500.00 for the television originally two years ago. The repair company explained that we were not the only people with this failure and that they have seen an enormous amount of these problems with Sony 52" LCD televisions. We spoke with Sony again and they would do nothing but offered to sell us a new television at a discounted price! They obviously are quite aware of the factory defect and are trying to conseal them! We Recently purchased a 46" LCD Sony Bravia for another room, but I can assure Sony, that I will never buy another Sony product ever again and I want to warn all prospective buyers of sony products to go with another brand, if your considering a new television purchase. You would think that Sony would want to satisfy a repeat customer, but obviously, they could care less! Beware of Sony televisions!!!!
