i went physiclly to a sovereign bank location to close a visa ckecking card on 03/30/2005 because i lost my wallet a day before. apparently this is never happen, the shared ckecking account (my wife too) debited 19 transactions from 03/31/2005 to 04/07/2005.

after too many calls and claim after 20 days we still dont know any result, customers services have no clue and i have to explain to each one the story and all detail about the 19th transaction.

their costomer services is i think somewher else in the world. we do respect other peaple anywhere but we need some in the usa.

i received a letter today saying if i did one of those trasaction on 04/04/2005 even they know that the card is not in my pocession. so i call them and they told me they will call me back. never happen. i have all the documents. i still dont know what to do after 21 days.

How to file a complaint

If anyone is having ANY problems with Soveriegn Bank and need to file a complaint against them please do so. They state that there is no place to file a complaint but there is. Massachusetts does not have jurisdiction over this crooked banking institution so they forward your complaints to the right people. I am submitting that information in this post for all who need it.

Against bank policy

I am an assistant manager at Sovereign Bank. I can tell you that if you have filed a claim for unauthorized debit card use and after 21 days have not received any information, it was not submitted properly. You should receive provisional credit within 10 business days and then we investigtate after that. If at that point it has been proven that the transactions were infact done by you we take the credit back. If this did not happen you need to ask to speak with that branch's manager and ask for the policy and then ask to speak with the regional manager. It is unacceptable that employees at Sovereign bank have disregarded your issue. This is not the way we provide service and unfortunatley not everyone should be in this field. I hope you get your money back but dont give up. You are right.. Dont wait to long though as you only have 90 business days to file a dispute. Hopefully you still have all your original paperwork..This will all work better if you go into a branch. Over the phone is hard because you never will get the same person twice. Atleast in the branch someone can be held responsible
