Spca of monroe connecticut Fred ackers SPCA has too many dogs and high prices Monroe, Connecticut

We went today to monroe's SPCA. We got there early to try to adopt an urgent dog marked for $5. We also fell in love with a little dog held in a cage on the porch. I couldnt believe all of the dogs were being held outside in the freezing cold. Many of them seemed inaccessible with the mounds of snow around their cages! When we were shown the dog marked urgent, it seemed like they didnt want us to adopt him. Mr Ackers came out very rude and said you dont even have your dog fixed yet so we arent going to let you adopt a dog. I told him our dog is scheduled to get fixed so it shouldnt be a problem.
When asked about the little dog on the porch he said it was $395 to adopt him. When i said that was a lot of money and dont they want the dogs to have a home he stated well i'm behind on payroll eight weeks so i cant give you any deals ! I just shook my head at him, turned around and slammed the door behind me.
The worst part is there sounded like there were a lot of dogs there....
