Reading about Specialty Network auto scams on RipOffReport alerted me to the fact that the company engages in internet ripoff schemes in a variety of areas. Evidently, Special Network has expanded its operations to also include aircraft being offered for sale by owner. I didn't find any reports pertaining to aircraft on the RipOffReport website. However, the basic outlines of their approach regarding autos are the same as described by contributors who were scammed by Specialty Auto after advertising their autos in for-sale-by-owner publications and websites.

After posting ads for my small plane on several FSBO aircraft websites, I received a call from "Robert Rockwell" of Specialty Aero. He gave me a sales pitch very similar to those given by Specialty Auto pitchmen. He made it sound very enticing, no downside to me, the company would find a buyer and handle everything from A to Z, I would receive 100% of my asking price, and all this for a modest fee of only $435. What could possibly be wrong with that? A lot, it seems.

Believing that anything that sounds too good to be true is probably too good to be true, I did some searching on the internet. That's when I found the reports on this website about Specialty Auto, recognized the name and address of the parent company, and the similarities in what was being offered. I also looked up Specialty Network on Omaha's Better Business Bureau and saw its F rating.Aircraft sellers, be advised: This company is not what it claims to be. It is indeed too good to be true.

Specialty Aero-Licensed Dealer with eBay Motors-State of Nebraska-Top Rated Seller

AUTHOR: David T. - ()

Specialty Aero has been in business 10 years assisting customers with the marketing and sale of the airplanes. We are Top Rated sellers on our store on eBay with 100% positive feedback over the last 10 years. As a result of our success were required to become licensed a licensed dealer through the State of Nebraska. We have an internal QA department reviewing all agents call, which are recorded, and have a third party verification company which verifies the details of all sales. Specialty Aero is a "for sale by owner" network with the highest standards of truth in advertising. Specialty Aero features their clients in their Specialty Network of webistes and affiliates, eBay motors, Airplane Wanted Program, Nationally Distributed Weekly e-Magazine, and Live-Market Feed (public and private channels of social media). For a one time flat fee Specialty Aero is guaranteed to market you plane until it sells. All services are backed by the Buyer Assistance Program which assists in leading potential buyers to all dealer amenities like financing, inspection services, transport, etc. Specialty Aero is the "Premeir World of Buyers and Sellers".

In regards to the complaint I would like to make several points. #1 - The person filing the complaint was not a customer. We serve thousands of customers each year and we have had 52 complaints over the last 3 years and NONE remain unresolved. We do not guarantee every plane will sell - we are guaranteed to market planes until they sell - we aggressively represent each customer working to match them with a buyer. We pride ourselves in being a selling service not a listing service. Bottom line - any complaint against the company we are dedicated to resolving quickly. Anyone can complain - substantiating it is an entirely different mattter. #2 The person filing the complaint says they live in one state but the complaint was filed from another. For all we know this is a ficticous complaint by one of our competitors. Would it not be convenient for a competitor to file a complaint then refer potential customers to it as a means to seduce them towards their compay? Frankly it happens all the time. We have been in business 10 years - we are very good - as a result of our success there are many new companines who over promise and under perform. They are ruthless in attempting to discredit our company. If it were a customer filing the complaint it would be worth considering (if substantiated) - a non-customer - I hardly find this worth responding to. #3 There is no way we could have 100% positive feedback on our eBay store for 10 years and be licensed through the State of Nebraska if Specialty Aero was a scam. #4 Mr. Rockwell is a seasoned Senior Account Manager with many years under his belt with the company and has helped clients move millions in inventory.

At Specialty Aero we are proud to represent "for sale by owners" in the marketing and sale of the airplanes. Our clients pay only a one time flat fee and do receive 100% of their sale price. We are guranteed to market their airplanes u sold.
