Equity one sold mortgage to Springleaf since then I was divorced and left house. Ex husband lived there for a year and failed to pay property taxes even when court ordered. He moved out I moved in, I had been paying reg mortgage payment and paying on taxes. Springleaf went and payed the taxes and raised the mortgage and never notified me. They sent letters to ex at his new address even after being told time and time again to sent corresponding to me at the house address. I find out about this 3 months after it was put into effect. I was still paying reg payment.last week I sold my car and sent $1500 for 2 months (mon aug4) I habe had to take personal leave from work before I have a breakdown. My don and his 3 children (2 are autistic) are staying at the house. Today I received a message his father told him he got a letter yesterday that they are foreclosing and he and the children have two weeks to get out before the sheriff locks the doors. I am scared, out of the country with family and have no where to turn or help him. And no notice was sent to me.

Sell the house

When you made short payments on the mortgage then you gave the lender an opportunity to foreclose. I know you didn't know that you were making short payments but someone was notified. Normally a notice is sent to the property occupants and to the individuals that signed the note (your husband in this case).
You have the right to catch up on the mortgage payments by paying the outstanding amount.
Most people don't have the extra funds sitting in their account, especially after the application of late fees, penalty interest, other bank fees and attorney fees.
Your best bet is to sell the house and pay off the loan. Take the proceeds and have your son and his family rent a while until they get on their feet.
If you are upside down, you can still sell it as a short sale.
