I got a cell phone and service with a two year contract with Sprint PCS from a Radio Shack last July (2007). At the time I bought it and signed the contract I asked if I could later add another line for my husband. They stated I could. I also had them print out a paper stating all of my charges and what my next months bill would be. They printed that out with the quote for the following months bill. The next months bill had the amount for my service and an activation charge, it was a normal bill and I agreed with all charges listed. Two months later I went back to the radio shack and requested the second line for my husband. But, before I signed anything I told them I wanted another print out stating what the folowing months charges would be because my financial situation was tight and I wanted to make sure I could afford it. They printed it out, it had the service for two lines, and the new activation charge for my husbands phone. It came up to just a little over $100.00. I said that was fine and signed the paperwork. A few weeks later I recieved my bill in the mail for the amount of $280.00! I called Sprint and they told me that I was supposed to have been billed a month in advance when I first got my phone and I wasn't, and I was to be billed another month in advance when I put the second line on. I told them, "No I have the print outs that radio shack gave me and no where on there does it say any thing about paying a month in advance." So all in all they were charging me for a current month and two months in advance, with the activation charge for the new line. I told them I could not afford the $280.00 and if I would have known that would be what I was to owe I would not have got the phone because I simply can't afford that much. I asked if they could work out an arrangement for the amount due since I was expecting my bill to be around a hundred dollars. They refused to. I even offered to fax a copy of the papers Radio Shack gave and they told me there was no need. Needless to say, my service was disconnected because I could not afford the 'double billing' and now I owe twice that amount because of the broken contract. Also, mu husbands phone quit working just a couple weeks after we got it and they refused to replace it. I now have a collection agency calling me constantly wanting this money which I do not think I should have to pay. I have tried explaining what happened to them and they are nasty with me and act like they don't believe me. It just upsets me that I was charged for two months in advance and never told that was going to happen and now they want to hold me responsible for that and the charges for a broken contract. I will NEVER EVER use sprint again!
