Here my story about my mom's Spint cell phone. She has her phone for years. He service contract is most basic one and has no any data or internet service included. She is 79 years old and have no idea how to text or brouse. Her phone is not a smart phone and has very limited data abilities - simpliest one, offered by Sprint.

Recently s**+ received a bill on which appeared a charge $75 for  2558 KB of data service. I spent hour on phone with their customer service - but respond was that charge is valid, she is responsible for any data transfer of outgoing (which is impossible for my mom) or incoming (even from uncnown spammer) data.

Pricing was ridiculosly high - 20C for text message and 3C per 1KB of data.

In addition they did not tell me where tthis data came from and whot kind of data it is.  Only information was given to me which dates and how much. Seems to be it was a few 30-60 KB messages ( probably text) and one 2430KB transfer

(Maybe pics? or internet?) I checked messages and internet log on her phone - nothing over there shoving such activity.

Still Sprint representative insisted that telephone memory is not prove and my mom probably accidentaly press button for Internet.

Finally the 've made a "settlment" - took off $30.00 wch mean that mom mom still ripped of $45 for nothing.

After my request they they disabled digital service for her account.

So Sprint did:

1. Sold telephone with data service available, did not warned about it, and did not offered to disable it.

2. Charged my mom, ridiculucly high, for activities that she never did.

3. Their custoimer service did not do anything to fix situation right way.

So be avare about Sprint data rip-off.

Consumers should never be responsible for services they do not need.

Clearly the individual posting the rebutal is a tyrant as well as a con man him or herself. The report clearly states that the service contract did not include a data plan.

Cell phone companies that allow data to be transfered over a service that does not include a data plan are doing so intentionally to charge the customer for a service the customer does not want.

Being that upon request, the data services were blogged by sprint, it is a no brainer for the company to simply default data services off when the contract plan does not include a data plan. To default the data services on is akin to a mail order catalog sending product to an individual in the mail that the individual did not order, then charging the individual and demanding payment for a product that the recipient did not order. This tactic has been illegal for years in mail order, it should alos be illegal for cell phone companies to enable a service that is not specifically mentioned in the contract.

The respondant Tyg's post is filled with a lot of anger and nonsensical logic. In his or her logic, the elderly 75 year old, whom likely has diminishing eye sight should be held responsible for a mistake that by all accounts should not have been able to occur to begin with. Why should any customer of any cell phone company be responsible for charges to their account, for a service they did not specifically ask to have enabled? In addition, why should any customer of any company have to look for all of the hidden, fine print services that are being forced upon them without their being clearly and openly informed about? Why should anyone have to look for all of the hidden traps that are included in service contracts to avoid being scammed by companies?

It is clear and obvious that the cell phone companies are using these tactics with the willful and intentional purpose of defrauding people. Any human being that has an ounce of moral integrity would never use these tactics in the course of doing business. No in fact, service plans that do not include a data plan should not be able to transmit data. If the cell phone company chooses to have the data ability enabled on the plan rather than disableing it, then they are the ones responsible for the data transferred, not the customer.

Its obvious to anyone that your mother did do SOMETHING on her phone. Not only did she do something on her phone, but Sprint has proof of it. So you then call them up and rob them because your mommy didnt remember hitting a button. YOU ARE THE SCAMMER!!!! YOU ARE THE RIPOFF!!!

Sprint isnt going to know ANYTHINg about your mothers capabilities. Its all automated. As such she DID do something on her phone. because of this she has to pay for the data usage. Im appalled at the sheer brass you have. You robbed Sprint.

Sprint does any excellent job catering to whiney little crybitches like you. I certainly hope you get some nice Karma from this. Just because your mother is old, doesnt mean she is stupid OR dead. She is still a viable person. Just because she doesnt remember doing it doesnt mean she didnt by accident. Secondly Sprint sold who the phone? If it was you then it was your responsability to help your mother with the phone. You know all phones come with some form of data. Ignorance is no excuse. Sprint shouldnt have to babysit you or your mothers account.

You know what, Im going to stop. I feel this is an exersize in futility. You lied to Sprint and then robbed them of thier product that they have proof of your use on. You then have the balls to post negativly about them because your mommy made a mistake and was made to pay for it. I hope Sprint sees this post of yours. You have posted a negative report on a public forum. Thats defamation of character. A nice fat civil suit is probably coming your way.

Common sense really is a super power now a days........
