i purchased this samsung n400 cellphone brand new. started haveing problems with the phone freezing up and not starting up. took phone in to store. they said they were haveing problems with this phone. they said they had to do a software up grade. they did. that did not help. i continued to take the phone back. they said there was nothing they could do. all of these phones were bad. they would not honor the waranty. they would not give me a new phone.

i contacted samsung. they would not do anything. all of these n400,s were defective, they discontinued this model because they were defective. a lot of people got taken, not just me. people accross the country who bought these phones. sprint does not stand behind there phones. samsung would not replace these phones.im still trying to use this phone. it still has all of its defects. the buy back at sprint is twenty five dollars for these phones. a fraction of what this phone cost new. i wish there was a class action lawsuit. i would join in on it. i continue to take this phone in to the store. just to be doing. to get them to check it and let them tell me theres nothing they can do. it atleast keeps this phone in there faces.

If that is how you feel K then you should avoid doing business at all costs!!

AUTHOR: Joshua - (U.S.A.)

While I understand that it is a annoying to have trouble with any kind of product and that everything should be perfect before it is marketed, thats not how it normaly happens. These companies on a whole try to push the limits with every new item they put out becaulse that is what the consumer wants, latest, greatest, fastest, and cheapest, so in an effort to provide this they put out a defective product from time to time. We as the consumer want it, Sprint as a middle man provide us with what their supplier brings them. In this case Samsung is the provider who you should be upset with, they are the manufacturer who provided a defective product to Sprint, while I tend to think Sprint as the provider should do something to fix this problem they are just the company that provides the service to make the phone do what you want it to do. If Sprint as the middle man was to eat all the cost of replacing these phones they would have to increse the cost for everyone who they provide with their service to cover the cost of Samsungs screw up. My advice is for everyone who is involved with Sprint or any other cellular provider to insure your hand sets, with Sprint it is only $6.00 a month to insure these products with Lockline, and for that cost you are guarenteed that if you get a defective phone it will be replaced at no cost to you, and even better if you break it or do something to damage it it only cost you $50.00 instead of the hundred to five hundred it can cost you with out insurance!!! Be a smart consumer and spend the money to insure what you get instead of the cheapskate that wants Sprint to replace your handset for free. The limits of the warranty are inside the box when you buy the phone and you are also provided with a 14 day oppertunity to exchange or cancel service for a new customer, but for everyone their is the 14 days to exchange the hand set reguardless of why!!

SPRINT PCS

AUTHOR: K - (U.S.A.)

CUT THROUGH THE CHASE...SPRINT HAS PROBLEMS WITH BEING HONEST IN STANDING BEHIND WHAT THEY SELL AND PROMOTE. I have telephone recorded conversations with reps of sprint where they have lied, misinformed, etc etc(recording convos in virginia is legal by the way).....i too have had an N400...same problems, and i too found out it was a discontinued phone. Most recent problem with sprint that made me switch.. they sold me a nokia camera phone....phone has no cover for its data port...after two months of having the phone...problem started with it just cutting off....took to sprint/nextel store...guy there was cool....called manager at another sprint store 30 mis away...manager told him to send me there with the phone to fix or replace....mind u,,,at the time i had no insurance on the phone....rep said no problem we will add it today for three bucks...they took an hour or so to tell me they wouldn't replace or repair...said dampness got to data port....what a joke...i m like the data port is expose from factory,.....any phone or electronic is subject to dampness if designed faulty such as this phone...this is one of 20 or more storys about sprint...i would quickly join a class action suit against these bandits. its wrong...in closing...i as a consumer am not willing to settle for "we will refund your money or exchange your item crap anymore". when we deal with these people(reps, supervisors, managers etc) they are already getting paid as they address our problems,,,,but we as consumers...we are using vital time that could be spent with our kids, or doing other important task....they don't understand or care that our time is of value....stop wasting our time with your faulty scam generated products.....

When did you buy the phone?

AUTHOR: Joshua - (U.S.A.)

If you purchased the phone with in the past 90 days it would be covered by both Sprint and Samsung, I have had several handsets from Samsung in the past and have never had any issue with getting malfuncioning phones replaced, now on the other had I also understand that I can not blame any damage that I may have caused to the phone on them. If still with in 90 days of purchase go to the retail store with your receipt and they will gladly replace it, if with in one year contact Samsung and they will help you out with this problem. IN the future I would advise you to buy the $6.00 dollar a month ERP (Equptment Replacement Program) anotherwords insurance and you will not half to worry either way, you break it or it just quits working and they will replace it with an equal or better phone.

Sprint's Fault, really....

AUTHOR: Nick - (U.S.A.)

Bill,

Samsung makes the phones per specifications set my Sprint.

While Samsung (or really, ANY manufacturer) designs the phones, the final word is by Sprint. Samsung doesn't make the phones and then sell them to Sprint, instead Sprint carefully inspects, causes modifications and sets "the grade" on the phone.

Once Samsung sells the phone to Sprint, then Sprint sells the phone to YOU.

Sprint's network has changed significantly since your model's release, and likely, Sprint cannot update their phones right.

Samsung (and other manufacturers) simply follow orders based on what Sprint/Verizon/etc demand. A lot on n400's are still in circulation, and work just fine. Try to get a new, or reconditioned, one.
