i contacted samsung. they would not do anything. all of these n400,s were defective, they discontinued this model because they were defective. a lot of people got taken, not just me. people accross the country who bought these phones. sprint does not stand behind there phones. samsung would not replace these phones.im still trying to use this phone. it still has all of its defects. the buy back at sprint is twenty five dollars for these phones. a fraction of what this phone cost new. i wish there was a class action lawsuit. i would join in on it. i continue to take this phone in to the store. just to be doing. to get them to check it and let them tell me theres nothing they can do. it atleast keeps this phone in there faces.

Samsung makes the phones per specifications set my Sprint.
While Samsung (or really, ANY manufacturer) designs the phones, the final word is by Sprint. Samsung doesn't make the phones and then sell them to Sprint, instead Sprint carefully inspects, causes modifications and sets "the grade" on the phone.
Once Samsung sells the phone to Sprint, then Sprint sells the phone to YOU.
Sprint's network has changed significantly since your model's release, and likely, Sprint cannot update their phones right.
Samsung (and other manufacturers) simply follow orders based on what Sprint/Verizon/etc demand. A lot on n400's are still in circulation, and work just fine. Try to get a new, or reconditioned, one.
