I purchased a bedroom suite from Levitz Furniture. The salesman was very quick to recommend the Satinsafe Warranty which according to the warranty is suppose to be good for 7 years.

About a year later, when I placed a claim, they sent a guy to my place of residence to look at the furniture. I never received any response regarding his findings and I had to call the company before they acted on my complaint. Even after this contact, I had to call them, after the time indicated by them, to find out the status of my claim. I was told and later received documents stating that I did not qualify for the claim even though it is stated implicitly in the warranty.

The problem I experienced was that pier shelving was not put together properly and hence there is a defect in the structure. I have a door that doesn't close properly because the shelf is not flushed with the wall of the unit. The warranty states: "COVERAGE: Wood Furniture - Failure of assembled joints of solid wood, veneered or laminated furniture, including inherent defect of framing material, warping of wood members and defective workmanship in the assembly thereof."

I was told to write their Denial Review Department, which I did. As of the time of this writing I have waited well beyond the period stated by Stainsafe and I still have not heard from them.

While typing this message I was on the telephone and placed on a long hold. When someone finally answered my call they hung up on me when I started to tell them why I called. This is not the first time this has happened. Every time I call they answer the phone and then disconnect me. My next step is to contact the BEtter Business Bureau in the area they are located.
