We purchased our furniture from Harlem Furniture on 11/03/03...paid big bucks for a nice living room set. Leather sofa and 2 recliner chairs leather of course along with the whole end tables, coffee tables and lamps. In May we noticed both recliner chairs by the back of the arm rests were ripping due to the way they were built. Underneath, the framing was rubbing against the leather and causing the leather to tear.

We checked the warrenty and saw the furniture was still covered. My wife got on the phone with Harlem to ask about it and they referred us to Stainsafe. Stainsafe sent out a guy about 2-3 weeks later to look at the furniture.

He said the one chair was under warrenty but did not think the other was going to be covered because we did not notify them within 5 days of it ripping!!! What a bunch of crap! We notified them ASAP when the rips were small. In the 2 weeks it took them to get to our house, the one rip got bigger (we have 2 children) from putting it back into the recline position. My wife also told him at that time we were moving to Florida in 2 months.

Stainsafe finally sent us a letter honoring the claim of one chair but not the other. In the mean time, we moved from Illinois to Florida. They then said Harlem no longer carried that color and we would have to get a similar color. Then, in another phone conversation, they said they would re-imburse us the cost of both recliners. After several attemps in talking with Stainsafe and Harlem Furniture and giving them our new address, they still sent mail to our old address. Last week they called for a delivery appointment and my wife asked "you deliver in Florida now?" They said no, we want to deliver it to your Illinois address. I spoke with stain safe today and they said they did not have our new address!.. What the He__!

You see, I just keep getting a run around from both companies. Its a joke! My wife is fed up with them as well. It will be interesting to see what happens next. I already filled a complaint with the BBB. I also took the liberty of e-mailing Harlem Furniture the past complaints about Stansafe from this wonderful web site!
