Beware

Stamps.com is a re-occuring auto credit card charge service. Even if you don't use it, you will be charged monthly. I did not see this fine print when I signed up, thinking I would only be charged for what I used.

Next, I decided to cancel. I looked for about 10 minutes on all parts of my account and website. No link. Finally I searched and found a FAQ and within that there was the note that you have to call to cancel. Red Flag. I guessed what was in store.

"Please hold for the next available operator" "All operators are busy" and so on. So set aside some time to wait if you want to cancel. Have patients. Once I got on the line with someone, I explained I want to cancel, I do not use the service. I repeated this at least 3-4 times. Then the real pitch began, I continued to be pleasant and explain my only goal. No Thank You, I want to cancel the service.

After perhaps 5 minutes of listening to various, "Yes, I understand but..." s I think I may have gotten a little heated in my Just Please Cancels.

I told the stamps.com operator --- "Look, I understand you are doing a job. I think Stamps.com would succeed if you just provided a service where you get a markup on US posatage and provide the printout stamps for packages. The down fall is in the reoccuring monthly account fees that are a big suprise to many new account holders...and now this ridiculous resistance to let me do what I want...JUST CANCEL IT.  Based on this, I can't recomend nor would I use you ever again, it leaves a bad taste in any consumers mouth, you should play this recording to customer loyalty to let them hear the truth. Heck if you just let me cancel it online, it wouldn't make your customers ticked off, you should really try that."

I called my bank to make sure they are not re-charging me, to be honest, I don't trust that they followed my instructions.

Call Your Bank if you think you cancelled Stamps.com!

AUTHOR: dbeaty - ()

Just as I suspected, Stamps.com DID NOT CANCEL anything. After all the time spent trying to talk them into removing me from their system, I was suspect and called my bank. I had them put in a fraudulent charge notice and indeed the next month they tried to charge my bank CC once again, but this time it was caught by the fraud division and did not go through.

Beware, if you try to cancel a Stamps.com account, if you were like me, they will Rip You off and try to keep charging your CC.
