They are the biggest scamers out there. I AM SAD TO SAY I PURCHASED THIS. SCOTT CARRUOLO AND PILOT PARKS are the biggest SCAMERS. Everything they told us was a lie.
A month after we purchased this stupid thing we get a call from Geo Holidays AKA Fairfeild Resorts in Canada to check that we new exactly what we had purchased and that the sales people were honest when thay had sold it to us. As I talked to this woman it became very clear that they had scammed us.
They had told us that we were purchasing 3 week RCI witch is not true we would be lucky to even get 1 week with the points that we purchased.
As I told the woman from Geo Holidays that they had not sold it correctly that we were surposed to have 3 week of RCI she told me that was wrong and ow well I guess you got scammed and hung up on me.
We then contacted the broker who sold it to us Starpoint Resorts to see what was going on and to see if they would cancel the contract and refund our money as they had fraudulently misrepresented the timeshare.
They said they would see if they could do that. Well a month goes by as they give us the run around and of course they final decided not to do anything at all.
As this month goes by we do some research on the web and find out that they have so many complaints and even a Class Action Case just about to be filed against them in Canada.
STARPOINT RESORTS / GEO HOLIDAY AKA FAIRFEILD RESORTS have lied about so many thing to us even about it being Deeded Property and the Escrow that we surposebly went through even though now after the fact we find out that there was never any Escrow agent present while we were doing the contract to point out the deadly buired parts of this contract. They had passed there loan officer off as the Escrow agent the Non- Bias party.
All they did for Escrow was to send the contract out of state to what they call an Escrow company. This Escrow company was not even lisenced to do business in the state of Nevada.
They also told us that they would do in-house finacing but all they did was open up a MBNA credit card and charge it to that.
We have been trying to despute the charge as they FRAUDULENTLY MISREPRESENTED THE TIMESHARE but the MBNA card is an affiliate of RCI so they will not despute the charge. Which is credit card fraud as they are take our fraudulent charge protection policy away.
IF ANYONE ELSE HAS BEEN SCAMMED BY THIS COMPANY AND LIVE IN LAS VEGAS OR NEAR LAS VEGAS AND WOULD LIKE TO JOIN ME AND SOME OTHERS IN PICKETING PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Omitted acknowledgement to 5 day recession period

However, after reading thru several "Rip-Off" complaints here. It seems that one of the common denominators here is the fact that at NO time during the sales presentation or closing process is the CONSUMER ever made aware of this right afforded him/her at all!
Is it printed in BIG RED letters on one of the hundred or so sheets of paper? yessir it is. But it sure is funny how that particular pack of information was cleverly placed into in "owners packet" without being handed to the potential buyer before BEING PUT INTO THE SALES PACKET.
Is it the responsibility of the buyer to read the materials presented? again yessir-ee! then again most of the people that attend the "mandatory" presentations are usually on VACATION and it may be several days before returning to their hometown.
In some (most) cases it may be well after the 5 day period has passed.
I too was one of these people.
Was it dishonest practice? technically no, Is this a SCAM? different people different opinions, I personally am not saying that the STARPOINT RESORT sales presentation (FREE CRUISE, FREE AIR TRAVEL?) is a total scam but then again I'm one person with one opinion, hehehe.
If, a TIMESHARE purchase is that great of a deal, it really sounded like one in the sales pitch, If, this product is really as good as it is made out to be by the sales staff then WHY? would STARPOINT RESORTS or any timeshare company, has to also offer incentives to potential buyers as a means to convince them that this is an opportunity to good to pass up?
IF THE PRODUCT IS REALLY THAT GOOD, wouldn't it be a situation where there is NO ONE asking to cancel such a purchase? It doesn't seem like that is the situation here but for those those that are trying to do just that it seems like the representatives of Starpoint Resorts must feel that they are being asked to give up their first born child or something.
In any situation you CANNOT please ALL of the people ALL of the time thats just not going to happen its a fact of life. But boy it sure seems like Starpoint Resort Group and all of its affiliates truly believe that they are the exception to the rule.

Stephanie,
I recently purchased a Timeshare with this company. It has been a week and after I research online I have come to believe that I was SCAMMED as well. Is there anything you can suggest that I do?

Irresponsible Consumers

I have personally worked in the Timeshare Industry for over a decade and have had the great opportunity to gain higher education in other fields to realize that this business strategy is a wonderful concept for consumers who understand the value of the American Dollar and inflation. It can become a gateway for the 'Average Joe' to also experience the value of vacationing and how beneficial quality family experiences become in future times. Having been in the business of Timeshare I also realize that sometimes the consumers are irresponsible to their commitments and fail to take the time to educate themselves on their purchases. I'm a little bewildered of the fact that there are consumers who proudly state in their claim of being "Ripped Off' of how to take advantage of a business entity by "Picketing" or trying to hold a company hostage.
There are documents and materials given to owners that outline the programs involved. It also seems that there was great confusion to the ownership parameters. I know that RCI affilicates can be entitled to 3 RCI Bonus Weeks that can be redeemed one per annual.... Not to be confused with your actual membership. Not sure if this is the way that GEO works, but seems that this might actually be the case. By-the-way - RCI is an Exchnage Affliliate associated with the timeshare interest purchased. I wonder if there was any attempt to obtain further education in order to utilize their timeshare interest appropriately?
The State of Nevada also provides each conusmer who purchases a timeshare interest in the State of Nevada, a 5 day revocation period regardless of which timeshare company it is purchased from. This option is conveyed in every contract derived and executed by the purchaser. It is actually stated in serveral different documents. As a responsible consumer, wouldn't you go home and review your contract agreements to in fact ensure that you had not been misinformed by verbal promises? If a used car salesman told me that I was going to receive an extended warranty for a vehicle I purchased off their lot, I would certainly expect that I would receive some sort of collateral stating such...
I have a question for the member complaining of the escrow procedures... Did you ever recieve a correspondence from the escrow division for the closing of your account? Are you a mortgage holder? Seems that you are highly misinformed of escrow closing procedures. Also, to apply and be approved for an MBNA RCI credit card, you would have needed to fill out and execute an application with pertinent credit background questions and signatures. It would've been up to the consumer to either place the purchase price on a personal credit line or accept the "In House" financing terms. Seems that these specifc consumers did not like or agree to the interest rate involved with the financing.
Folks, please get your facts straight and in order. Remember that we reside in a very litigious world. Have you looked up Disney on this website? Would you still take your children to Disney for their own experience? Keep an open mind as there doesn't seem to be any vaild claims to these gripes.
For the guy who sold timeshare, complaining of commissions.. Is this your first rodeo? It's called a reserve...
Picketers beware!!! There are laws involved with picketing... Be sure not to get involved with defamation and ensure you are competely informed of public laws and not just your freedom of speech ammendments! Just to be careful. There are plenty of timeshare companies with valuable reputations. Remember that there are thousands of happy timeshare owners... Maybe take the time to educate yourselves futher...

I won't even get into discussion at this point with your comment about 800,000 happy owners. I am actively involved with hundreds of Wyndham owners and can say we are a very unhappy bunch with the corporate greed and dishonesty that runs rampant through Wyndham. You can search for my posts about this among other Ripoff Reports.
I wish you luck with your continued employment in a company that has recently laid off hundreds of employees last month.

Stop Victimizing Innocent People - They Should Be Stopped
AUTHOR: Tera - (U.S.A.)

They have been swindling people for years; Washington state business records reveal as far back as 1995 - could be longer as the list of names are endless: Advantage, Ultima, SVC-Pacific, Shell Vacations, Vacation Marketing Services, Starpoint, Starpointe Resort Group and as you can see the offices travel into different states - who knows how many - Oregon, Nevada, where else?
Always the same scenario... false misrepresentations and strong arm tactics - when comsumers call to complain they get nothing but run around. Innocent people being victimized.
KIRO 7 busted the Shell Vacations office in Lynnwood. They have lost numerous court battles with the Attorney General. Recent reports are now coming up on boards like these. Do a search on www.thetimesharebeat.com in the Street Talk section using "SVC-Pacific" and you'll find links to these reports. Comments by people in the industry further substantiate that they are fraudulent and couldn't sell straight if their life depended on it.
Why haven't their liscenses been revoked? Why hasn't something substantial been done to stop these criminals from victimizing innocent people and stealing their money (recording 2.4 million in just one month!!!)? I hope some more people come forward and post stories on the hardships that have been caused due to the financial burdens after being ripped off. More importantly, that these people are stopped.

My husband and I ended up picketing by are selfs out side there door and it took all of 10 minutes to get all are money back. I found out that they make about 1-2 Million a weekend ripping people off. I highly recommend making some picket signs and get a blow horn and picket IT WORK! They rather give you your money back than loose big dollars. Go on a Saturday when they are really busy. Do not bother calling them they strung us along for 2 months saying they were trying to get approval to give us are money back.
