Turns out he shattered the cartilege in knee and spine. The knee is so bad it requires surgery, unfortunatly the hospital won't treat the injury since being bedridden the workman's compensation insurance has expired. being a veteran is able to use veterans benifits to have an operation. In the mean time his wife leaves him, with his child. Then he's diagnosed with a spinal diease, this again leaves him with long peroids of being bedridden. Now being disabled he incurrs a huge amount of interest on his child support obligation.
The federal Government deems him eligable for S.S.I. payments, and compensates North Dakota child support enforcement unit 35% of these payments. After his youngest child turned 18 yrs. old federal government no longer will compensate. The State of North Dakota, with no disabilty exception feels they have no other choice but to create a hardship for the disabled. They offer a solution of private attorney, but take away the means for veteran to obtain legal council. It seems the state has quite a scam against the disabled by after knowing these people have little chance of changeing their situation should pay double or triple their child support obligation.
why should they feel they need to take 70% of someones total income. Have they asked themselves how someone could live on that amount. After talking to a case worker at the enforcment agency I was informed that it's against North Dakota state law to take over 50% of someone's income. Is that true, if so how can they get away with that. Who's watching the watchers. I felt it was crazy tha I was repeatedly thrown into jail when they knew I couldn't walk. I was led to believe there was no debtors prison, have we reverted to the dark ages when someones children can be taught to hate them for finanical reasons.
