I cant tell you how upset I am with the performance (vibration) of theses wheels and tires. Both shops have different stories on why this happening. NTB, claims the wheels are defective. Discount, says that these wheels are not right for my truck (Toyota). I have exhausted all avenues. I cant tell you the frustration of sitting and waiting for them to finish my truck, only to hear that its not fixable. I have spent lots of money and TIME trying to figure this out. Steve is a very good sales person. He must have been selling cars sometime in his life. He will tell you stories and sell you dreams. He sells 2nd class rims and tires that are DEFECTIVE. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR GO TO YOUR LOCAL SHOP AND BUY RIMS THERE. Steve will make it seem like he will save you money. But it is not worth the $100 dollars to get rims and tires that are not safe to drive.

should have bought better tires
AUTHOR: Matt B - ()

the falkens rocky mountain ats are some of the worst tires ever. tread wears out super fast, they never balance well, and are plagued with causing vibration problems.
should have spent a little more for a much better tire by bfg or nitto. you would not have any of these problems
As a tire tech for discount tire for over 3 years, i've seen my fair share of people dealing with vibrations. My first question is specifically what wheels/tires did you go with? Vibrations can be caused my one of MANY, MANY things. Saying that the wheels you got are "defective" is HIGHLY improbable. The only wheels i've ever dealth with that were less than ideal, were some of the first made 8x6.5 22x14 Fuel Hostages that had a center bore that wasn't center, thus creating a hard time to center the wheel on the balancer to get a proper balance. This was fixed by a simple call to fuel who not only replaced the wheels free of charged, wanted the wheels sent back to them to figure out how it happened.
So, now what i suggest is taking your vehicle back to discount tire and getting a very experienced tire tech to fix your problem. If you have a toyota, you will more than likely not need any "rubber bands for the hub" aka hub rings. the center hub on toyota's is the largest of all 6x5.5 or 5x150 bolt battern wheel hubs. so manufacturers make their wheels with that maximum bore size to allow their wheels to work for multiple applications. Also the hub rings are solely for making installation easier. if the vehicle is properly torqued and wheels properly centered, hub rings will make zero difference in fixing your vibration.
what i suspect, is that it is a tire and balancing issue. vibes over 50 are more than likely balancing issues. there are many ways to balance an assembly. figuring out which way will be most effective is where having an experienced tire tech work on your vehicle come into play. you can also have more advanced balancing techniques applied via road force balancing/ride matching.
i've never had any dealings with mrwheeldeal but clearly he has tried to be helpful in every way possible. before you go on a website and bash him, you might want to do a little more research.
AS for Bill's comments about people not being liked by mechanics when they take their after market tires/wheels in with problems, I can only say this; If you are the mechanic and I am the customer, you need to remember that I am paying you (or your employer) to work on and repair my vehicle. I am not paying you to LIKE me! I wouldn't be bringing my vehicle in to get repaired if I could or wanted to do it myself. If you needed brain surgery, are you going to do it yourself or go to a qualified surgeon? I would hope the surgeon doesn't have the same attitude as Bill, or you might be in trouble.
Whether you like the customer or think he's dumb, or whatever, better not have anything to do with the service you are providing, or you will probably find yourself looking for another job after you've driven all your customers away.
Thumbs up for SD Wheel, sorry Bill, but thumbs down for you...

There are three complaints in this entire string of comments, one of which was fully resolved. We have server over 40,000 customers in our nine years of business, and we really do work out butts off to ensure our customers are pleased. I'd say this very small handful of customers relative to the total number of customers we have served more than supports this claim.
Please also note, right from RipOffReport's website, ALL COMPANIES WILL GET COMPLAINTS HOW THOSE COMPANIES TAKE CARE OF THOSE COMPLAINTS IS WHAT SEPARATES GOOD BUSINESSES FROM BAD BUSINESSES
Any time we encounter an issue with an order, that's exactly what we do. Should you ever have an issue with any order, I urge you to first contact us prior to filing any report, and I'm sure you'll agree that we'll rectify.

The real problem came when the freight truck showed up and the OWL's were facing out when I specified I wanted them hidden. The tape on wheel weights were hanging out over the edge of the inside of the rim, and all tires had 25psi or less in them hmmmm 2nd clue. I contacted Steve and yes he was apologetic, even refunded me $40 for my trouble. I thought no problem shit happens. So I took them over to a local shop we deal with that could turn the tires around without marking the rims so the white letters were inside and they rebalanced them. took a lot of weight on some(5.5oz was the most) drove a few hundred miles on the highway and the vibration sucks between 60-70. I took them to a large tire shop 50 some miles away this past weekend and spent more time and money for them to re balance on a state of the art computerized coates machine It's better--- but still has that high speed shimmy/vibration just not as bad.
I think my last chance to find out if it's the tires or the rims will be to drive to State College and get them done at a large shop that uses the new Hunter Road Force GSP9700. This will cost me about $125 for all four. The tires are Falken Wild Peak AT LT285/65R18 and the rims are the Fuel Off Road Hostages.(the guy that balanced them the second time thinks it's the wheels) yes they are plus sized!(my all terrain came factory with 265/65R18's) I also took the time to use the new Bilstein 5100 series front leveling shocks and NOT spacer kits under my front coilovers, with matching Bilsteins on the rear. and I did buy my own thin walled socket and let the guy at the tire shop use it and he still used an impact gun when I requested him not to. If I only had the updated equipment at my shops I would've done it all myself. but we use a lot of National accounts with Goodyear and Bridgestone and keep our fleet stuff mounted and balanced ready to go. That's why I elected to do the package deal with SD Wheel Corp. I am giving them one more chance to help me out before I jump on the bashing band wagon.

---you of all people should know that those that buy your wheels are obviously not to smart--with this--you should expect this kind of thing from day to day-and i am sure you do---if not--this proves that your customers are not smart and ignore the quality of there vehicles ride after the rim swap or how there car rides, nor if the wheels fit and what it is like to remove and replace tires on these wheels as long as they don't do it themselves--- as long as they are blinging right!!!---with all due respect---find a better quality wheel to sell instead of the usual cheap aftermarket wheel---it's funny----1700$ for cheap ass wheels and cheap tires--lol-lol-lol!!!!!!!---also--if you sold the wheels--why would you not tell someone they don't fit the car??--do you not know what your selling??--why after he complained did you tell him to get the hub adaptor??--obviously you didn't know---either that or you don't give a shit and just want to sell a cheesy ass wheel---this was a good post--i got to insult 2 people on the opposite sides cause they are both stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!---ps-this is constructive criticism!

Then came this filing. In our opinion, and after speaking with the customer moments ago on the phone, this is an attempt to extort additional money out of our company.
We're a family owned business, with (3) eBay user id's, and a superb feedback reputation on all 3. We've been around for 7 years, and take the wheel and tire business very seriously. We have thousands of positive reports on forums across the world, and really do strive to ensure every customer is satisfied.
We are working with our legal team to ensure this misleading comment is removed, and will take whatever action is needed to ensure it is removed.
Thanks,
-Steve
