If you are thinking of having your house painted please don't even think about using the student painters that have signs up and around the Lafayette area! We made that mistake and a costly one at that! After they didn't show up for weeks I contacted them to find out when they would be here. I got excuses and more excuses but was persistent. They show up to "power wash" the house and then return the next day to remove shutters exposing a VERY DIRTY house! They were here for over 17 hours with a crew of 3-5 painters at a time and they painted very poorly some of the front trim(didn't finish all the windows and three.....YES THREE shutters that still had the old paint showing through. I looked at the painted trim that had been done and you could still see the old color shining along with the new! I was told it would be corrected before they were done.
Then on the following day they show up with 4-5 painters(all but one scared to climb the ladder) and I have three shutters on the house, torn up landscaping, no caulking to the areas that needed it (just large cracks still showing) and they had paint on the siding, j-channels, soffit, white metal tracks and other areas that was not to be painted! Along with the house not even completed. They left their ladders in our garage for a week!
I am furious at this point and call the main number only to get the run around! The crew leader calls and says that they will fix it all (I have the pictures to show their terrible painting job!) but he needs to rent a 40' ladder and has no way to haul it here to do the chimney safely ( after they took a roller and rolled up the sides across the j channels and siding! all the way around). I recieved a call from another crew leader that tells me they will make it right and I tell them just to refund my money at this point! With all the damages I have hired another contractor to fix their mess! I went and bought my own paint since the student painters didn't leave my paint that I had paid for (must have needed it for another job!)
My second contractor showed up and painted ALL the shutters double coated and rehung them along with finished the two windows that needed the first coat of paint in less than 8 hours. He will be finishing the house this week and up to standards.
Today I get a call from another person and he tells me he will make it right. I tell them I just want my money back due to the damages they caused. He calls again tonight and says that since they provided the paint ( what for three shutters and a light coat on the trim and alot on the siding) and they have 17 hours in the job then I was not getting my money back. I once again told them I bought the paint that we are using this time and with the current contractor and he said "well the paint they did was the correct color wasn't it?" Are you kidding me!!!! I told him they had bigger issues than the paint, they damaged the siding and other areas on my house and landscaping and I would contact the corp office tomorrow. I was told "good luck" and he hung up!
Beware......RIP OFF!!!! and you will spend more in the end!
