Suburban Propane price gauging, not fixing equipment in a timely manner, added fees, not giving me credit for propane leaking out. Whippany New Jersey
I run a campground in Gloucester county N.J. Suburban propane, took over as our propane supplier a little over a year ago. I am a women, who inheited this poistion, when a family member died. Not knowing about propane prices , someone looked at my bill and told me that each time they filled my tanks, they were charging me a differnt price, and adding all kinds of charges on my bill. Our filling station broke down 2 days after christmas and it took them a month to come and fix it. They said they had to order the part. When they finally came out and fixed it, and it was a refurshed part. After that we kept smelling propane, and here the tank was still leaking.
I had them out Feb 5, 2014 for a leak, Feb 6, 2 times for a leak. Each time they said they fixed the tank, something else was broken on the tank then the last time, they said the tank had to be empty, before they could fix it. I would not allow my staff to fill propane, so finally they came out on Feburary 19, 2014, and pumped the tank out. They only gave me a credit, for 216-4 gallons. I am still fighthing with them for a credit for all the propane that leaked out. I have spoke with 2 differnt people, and get differnt stories. I met with SJ salesperson and he promised me a locked in price at 2.52 a gallon, and that never happened. When I call them they tell me that they can charge any price that they want, because the price goes up and down daily.
My brother had a 10 year contract, with the other company, and it says they can only raise our price once a year in Oct. They told me that I am not understanding the contract, and they sent it to there legal department. I had a state inspecator here twice, and the second, time he said he was going to start fining Suburban, for not fixing the pump station. Thats when they took my call. I am in the process of getting rid of them for all my tanks in the back, and just letting the filling station sit here untill the contract is up. They also told me they owned my house tank, and I proved them wrong, I found the company that inspected it when it was installed in 1999, and they gave me proof.
I was never given a new contract or contacted when they took over from my old propane supplier. I think was they are doing is unfair. There are no quidelines for propane compaines. I have found a small family owened supplier that i am going to give my business too. And I will fight suburban, for the credit that they owe me, then I will take my d**n time paying the balance off. We have been denied, repairs, denied propane. They are rude, and very unprofessinal. There prices are triple of what I paid to the old supplier. Also they tell me that they cannot tell me the price untill they fill the tank, and the computer prints out the recepit. The house has ran out of propane 2 times in 3 months.
Also they will not give me a set filling day, they come all differnt times, and want to fill differnt tanks. I asked them for the same driver, and same set day by weekly, so we could go over how we like the tanks filled. Like not filling the house in the summer, not filling my pump station in the back durning the summer, not filling my store durning the winter. Only filling when it gets to a certain amount, because of the price changing everytime they come out here. And all of their fees. They are also charging TX-3 other tax, Safety P&T fee TX-3 othe tax Transporation fuel surchare and TX-3 other tax or each differnt tank. Late fees, on this account, plus 1.50 percent montly, and 18.00 percent Annual.
