Rude and greedy manager forgets who is the customer. Treats me as if I'm getting a free sandwich and tells me to complain to call Subway.

A frequent customer at this specific location, I was quite surprised at the change of service. For many months I've been purchasing their sandwiches with lots of jalapenos because I like spicy food. The friendly employees (half of them quit) never once complained about me getting too many jalapenos. Then an obese girl who has a negative attitude and listens to rap music was hired.

As the owner was working the register one day, the obese girl mentioned charging me extra. How could the owner decline? After all, he was getting money for it, so the idea got accepted and news spread to the manager who made it her personal mission. She made sure that all the employees will be charging ME for all the extra jalapenos. There was no sign made or official policy enforced. The only person I was ever told will be charged for them is me. Next time the owner was working, he even gave a hint to a person working the register to charge me extra. If this had true reason behind it, why are they trying to hide it?

So after a few days, I asked the manager about this and all I got was this "I don't care, call to Subway and complain all you want" attitude. Way to treat a frequent customer. So I called and filed a complaint, which the manager claims she never received. If you go to Subway's website it clearly states that vegetables do not cost extra, and charging for them by the private franchise is NOT recommended.

Then I go there today and the obese girl puts less jalapenos than ever on my sub, and tells me I can only have 6 when I ask for a little bit more. So then the manager comes out and after arguing some more she says "ok, give him two more". TWO MORE JALAPENOS! That was like a slap in the face. Do I have to beg just to get good sub now?

A 26 oz can of jalapenos only costs $ 3.50 wholesale, they're cheap and mostly grown in Mexico! Next the manager tries to shfit the blame on me and claims I've "made rude comments to her girls before". WHAT? Not only is she making things up but she's also admitting to being sexist and not hiring any men at that location. To make things worse the obese girl slaps the sandwich together and throws it on the counter, and I come home with a squished piece of junk that's 2/3rds the size of their average sandwiches.

I never see them do anything even remotely similar to other customers. For all the months I've frequented their establishment (usually during busy hours) not once did they tell another customer anything about charging extra for vegetables even when some have asked for more. Not once did they put together such a skimpy sub and COUNT the actual vegetables!

This does not save them money because I could easily cancel out their savings by asking for other vegetables I did not get. If they cannot serve sandwiches according to Subway policy and still make a profit, then something is clearly wrong with their management and they are not functioning properly.

I don't even care about the money or cost, I'm just angry at how they turned from the best Subway place I've ever visited to such a lousy customer service with personal attacks. I'm not even going to tell people to avoid this place either, their food may still be good as long as it's made by good employees. Just avoid the manager or the obese girl and you'll get a great sub. Some days you'll be lucky and others you will not. I wish I could list names but I'll have to find that out later.

are you joking me?

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

they're picking on a customer, plain and simple-- and being petty and imo
just 'crazy' to say the least... they're putting less just to annoy the customer
so they'll have to beg and keep asking for more and just cause them more problems and to frustrate the person....it's pretty pathetic....and no one should have to put up with that... it's called customer bullying... and getting together to refuse jalapenos on a sandwich just shows how twisted these people really are.
they're using their meager status as "subway loser employees" to get together and gang up on a customer and insult them in this way--and on a powertrip.. it's wrong and should not be allowed or tolerated. when will you people learn...

What about those that get charged for peppers that don't ask for them??

AUTHOR: Matt - (U.S.A.)

I find this whole thing quite remarkable. The few times that I've been to a Subway and ordered a sandwich, I have asked for specific things (and jalapeno peppers is one of them! lol) not be added to my sandwich. I don't get charged less for not taking these items. So, it basically comes out as a wash since if I don't order peppers and the next person behind me wants extra peppers, no big deal, right? I'm sure in the order of most ordered "extras" that jalapeno peppers is probably near the bottom.

It actually is store policy

AUTHOR: Agreen - (U.S.A.)

I used to work at a subway and believe it or not, it actually is policy to count the vegetables that are put on the sandwich. No, subway does not charge for vegetables, but they do charging for EXTRA veggies. There is a button on the SUBWAY register made specifically for extras. It seems as though you are so accustomed to getting free extras and taking advantage of the employees doing you a favor that you feel it is owed to you. Subway does not get veggies for free to make sandwiches, so why should you get extras for free? And stating that the employee was obese has nothing to do with this report, so why add it? You're just being immature.

She listened to rap music, too?!?! How dare she!

AUTHOR: Whitney - (U.S.A.)

Wow, do you really have that much free time to sit and complain about how many peppers you get at lunch? Since you have obviously researched this and are up to date on the wholesale prices of peppers, then why don't you go buy a $3.50 jar of peppers yourself and add them to your liking. It's obviously that big of a deal to you, so why don't you get off of your pompous high horse and leave the subway employee alone. Her life is already sad enough that she has to work at subway to support herself - she more than likely doesn't get paid enough to deal with crap from jerks like yourself. Also - while you are buying your wholesale peppers, how about you get some bread and meat as well and - ta da! - the perfect sandwich will be made for you.

You sadden me. You are why humanity is in a decline.

I will pray from now until eternity that my offspring will never be arrogant jerks like you.

Subway right hand doesn't know what left is doing

AUTHOR: S..ward - (U.S.A.)

I was a Subway manager for 13 years and I agree that the situation was handled poorly. However, I do take exception to the fact that the customer felt that when the crew was counting out vegatables that they did not know how to make sandwiches by Subway policy. There is a standard veggie formula that all Subway employees should be trained th follow. this is a standard procedure in the restaurant industry to control food costs. It is no different than Pizza Hut putting so many mushrooms on a pizza, or Burger King putting 2 pickles on a Whopper. the amount of veggies should be 3 on a six-inch and 6 on a footlong However, I find it unnacceptable that the employee's were not trained to give extra with a smile if the customer requests. All Subway units are individually owned and operated, and that is wherein the confusion lies. Owners are permitted to charge extra for veggies over and beyont the formula, but it is strongly, strongly suggested that they don't. I would certainly not suggest that anyone be charged extra unless the extra was in excess of what I would consider reasonable, which doesn't happen frequently. The problem is that some peoply get an attitude right away if you make their sandwich by the formula. I don't know why. Every other food service operation does it, but because Subway makes the food right in front of the customer, they often think It's a "buffet". The problem is that not all Subways operate the way they are supposed to, which causes the customer confusion. And if they complain to the big-shots, they play dumb and the mess falls back on the employees and managers, just for following the procedures in the manual that they provide. If it was my store all you would have to do is ask for extra and you would recieve extra free of charge.
