The newspaper had a rub off card, from Summit Air, where you could win one of 6 prizes, with the top being 10,000.00. I called the number when I had a "winning hand" as instructed.

When my call was answered I was told I was a winner, and that they needed to find out if I was a homeowner, (yes) and was I married, (yes again) and that they needed to do a demonstration in my home. They asked when would be convienent and both of us could be here.

My spouse is an OTR truckdriver, and may not get home for 3-4 months, and may only be home 10 hours. He is not on a dedicated run, and he never knows where he will be.

I was told we both had to be here. I then read off of the card, where it says, you may be asked...and pointed out the "you" is singular, not plural. The woman put me on hold. Then I was disconnected. I attempted to call back, only to get a busy signal several times. I finally got through, and when I went through same thing again with a man, I got transferred to a supervisor who said they would make special arrangements for me. I have yet to hear from anyone about setting up a home visit? And sincerely doubt I will either.

This company engages in deceptive advertising, and has no intention of honoring its prizes. There is also the wording that "you MAY be asked to..." view demonstration of Filter Queen product.

This company, which has extremely expensive products, should not have to resort to such shoddy practices. But it does, and not just in this area either.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

New tricks but the same practices

AUTHOR: Tim - (USA)

POSTED: Sunday, March 27, 2011

I have been speaking on this thread since I have been a former representative in the Seattle area several years ago.  I have spoke to reporters in different markets about this company.  It doesn't matter who sells it or where it is sold, it has been deceptive and the corporate offices have sugar coated it.  Here is the best thing to do:

1) If your state attorney generals office has a consumer reporting center (even one for contests would be better) and file a report.

2) If any tv stations have a consumer reporter, let them know and shown them this thread.

I'm pretty sure this thread is hurting their business.  It's actively used by HMI employees, independent representatives, former sales managers, and consumers.  I'm sure you Google Filter Queen, this pops up on top.

By reporting it, you will be doing everyone a favor and their business will be shut down very quickly and they will scurry off to another part of the world.
