After 15 months and almost eighty five thousand dollars later it is my pleasure to now put in writing that the corporate office/management at Sunrise Senior living is terrible. These higher positions that never acknowledge the residents are uncaring, very unhelpful, never return phone calls or respond to letters. Management cares only about money coming in each month.
Due to the fact that Sunrise was willing to do nothing about a terrible situation we had, with a family member mentally abusing a 96 year old woman, I incurred a lot more expense by having to hire a companion to sit by my grandmothers side all day on top of my monthly cost.
My husband and I were paying for my grandmother to be at Sunrise. I had a sister who wanted her somewhere else, when this did not happen to her liking she became very irrational. For 15 months she knew if she upset my grandmother that this was the button to push with me. The director of the facility said to me, " your sister is mentally abusing your grandmother." I only wanted supervised visits put in place so she could not say anything to upset my grandmother.
Corporate office was informed several times and actually fought against me for the supervised visits. The director who knew what was going on sent me a letter saying after investigating my sister was allowed unsupervised visits. Another person in management at the facility heard voicemails left to me and knew how disturbed my sister was acting. Several steps put in place were not followed. Sunrise only had a interest to protect their own legal interest and did nothing at all to provide my grandmother with a peaceful environment in her final days. If you have any family dynamics chose another facility Sunrise is about what is best for Sunrise, nothing more!
