I have moved at least a dozen times using commerical movers, always as military or government employee. This was my first time making the arrangements and paying for the move myself. This is undoubtedly the WORST experience I have ever had. First off, never presume that everyone understands the terminology or definitions involved. To me a "full packout" meants that the movers provide boxes, packing materials, and crew to pack/box EVERYTHING in the house. Apparently Super Jet plays by a totally different set of rules!! I contracted for a full semi-trailer (4000 cu ft), with up to 30 days of storage spelled out in the contract, and verbal statemnts from Pete, the General Manager, that a full pack out was included. Monday, June 24th, the first truck driver shows up at my house, with a 51 ft semi-rig. He thinks he is doing a straight run to San Antonio. I had already arranged with Pete for 30 days of storage, per the agreement. This was not communicated to the movers. What happened was that Super Jet sub-contracted to some Baltimore company to do the pickup for them. The first crew that arrived said there was no storage involved, that this was a straight drive/move; and, that they were not instructed to pack anything but furniture. After several calls with a guy named Jason (dispatcher for someone. not sure which company) and a relayed messages from the crew foreman, they wanted another $7-8000 to make my move! They left on Monday with nothing being done. Prior to their leaving "Jason" had agreed to drop $1000 from my contract price (new price $14,800) for all the trouble on Monday. Another different crew showed up mid-day Tuesday with a 2500 cu ft truck and crew of 4. We "thought" the packing and volume issue was resolved. The new crew showed up and wanted another $3-4000 to pack furniture and load it, again with no packing of household goods. They also left the job, without doing anything. Apparently after several calls from Jason to "Sergey" (the owner of the Baltimore sub-contractor) things were ok and the crew was on the way back. Well, I received a couple of calls from Sergey trying to get me to cancel my deal with Jason/Pete, and to contract with him directly, or he wasn't going to send his crew back. When this was relayed to Jason, he got both Sergey and myself on the call, stated that Jason had paid for packing materials, and both agreed that a crew was on the way back. I agreed to Pete to not only forgo the $1000 discount, but agreed to a new price of $16,800 for everything. That was a dumb thing to do, trying to help them out. The guys started loading furniture only on Tuesday, and left at around 10:00 PM. Wednesday, June 26th, the crew show up at 2:30PM, with th intentions of loading 1500 cu ft, which is the full 4000 cu ft I contracted for, then leaving, with the agreement that I would be responsible for moving anything that exceeded that volume. Guess what??? Again, no packing. I am on my way to the airport because I have to go back to work on Thursday in TX. My wife calls really pissed because the crew lead (I think Sergey's son) tells her that they are not packing anything but furniture. More calls and texts with Jason, and bottom line is no, they are not packing anything. Now, I have spent several hundred dollars out of my pocket for boxes and packing materials, will have to rent a truck myself ($2500) to move everything else to TX myself, and who knows what other dangers lurk in the future. These people are frauds in my opinion, and other than the fact that I am seriously concerned that they will hijack my furniture and I won't get it back, I fully intend to sue them. If you contract for a move with Super Jet Vanlines, or a company in Baltimore run by a guy named Sergey, you are taking a HUGE risk, and will probably get screwed as well!! Don't do it. Go with some reputable company!!
