Sign up for Supermedia pay per click advertising last year. They promised me I would only get clicks from within my market area, as clicks from outside my area are of no use to me. The first month went 300% over the original budget, and it was pretty much all outside my  market area. They said they would take care of the charges, but never did. Bill calmed down to what I expected it to be, but sales staff from Superpages were constantly calling me to "optimize" my search engine clicks. Translation: I am not using my entire budget each month, and they want me to ad worthless keywords to increase my clicks. I kept them at bay until the 10th month of the contract. My credit card account number changed, and when my old card number did not go through on my monthly charges, suddenly the clicks skyrocketed, all from outside my market area, and before I could find out what happened, there was well over 1000% overages on my click account. When I asked for an explanation of the charges, I was told "your marketing program is starting to kick in, and your clicks are going up as a result". When I told them there is no marketing program outside my service area, they responded with "search engines must have realligned, and that is outside our control."  I requested a refund of all clicks outside my service area for a couple weeks, got nowhere and had to close the account completely. I had to redo all my business cards, letterhead and promotional products to go back to my original phone numbers, and I went with a Google ad campaign which is reasonable, and not based on pay per click.

I will NEVER advertise with Supermedia again.
