That is until you consider the TV is actually a Black and White 5 inch television. Likely to recieve no reception. The Customer service rep said it was a Memorex, and the going rate for said memorex is 44 dollars. For a package that small it is around 10 dollars to ship so your truthfully paying nearly full price for the TV. But most TV's fitting the specs of our "Free Gift" you see a price of 15-20 dollars. With a 10 dollar shipping charge you are paying 35 dollars for "Handling". What is handling? Handling is anything the holding company wishes it to be.
Usually a sly way of charging you for free items. Anyway, This is a complete ripoff. Everything about Sweepstakes Clearinghouse seems to revolve around rip offs and scams. Anyway, I have read a small amount of Positive comments on them, some say they are good for buying things on layaway. But most say that they got ripped off in the process. Trust this company at your own risk.

Demonica, read '297 complaints' carefully

This company takes advantage of people that may not know the quality of the items, if they ever receive an item. For instance, they are selling re worked Dell computers that are several years old, and will not run most of the software on shelves today. They are selling these computers and other products for double and triple what the item is worth. For you to claim " I've been a customer for 12 years" and " I love everything I've got" and " I know the letter you talking about..it clearly states..".
First off...the original post is from 2004. How can you possibly remember what the letter "clearly states"? Unless you are a troll from sweepstakes clearinghouse.
Secondly...You love everything you got? You love getting crap? Again, you are either a troll from this company, or you are not very smart. Third...You've been a customer for 12 years? How? I really want to know. This company claims to be for sweepstakes/prize winners. Demonica, do you really think it is not a 'rip off' to take advantage of naive people and make them think they are winners? Oh, I almost forgot, the state of Ill. has already won a judgment against sweepstakes clearinghouse for sending letters to people in that state claiming they are 'winners' when in reality, it's a scam! Evidently, thats illegal. I would love to know what you think about this company now, please respond! I would love to know if you're a troll or an idiot. This company has hurt and stolen from so many people. How can you defend them?
So my advice to your commet is to READ CAREFULLY.

not employed by these rip-offs but have been in their warehouse

most of my life.In the course of me and my partner's day we visit several wholesalers for our products that we stock for our business. One day we came across this place and decided to go in to see if they had anything that we might want to carry.Well to our amazement most if not all the products these RIP-OFFS stocks have been out of production for many years, also most are refurbished items. Also it turns out that they yse one of the same suppliers that stocks NEW and refurbished items that we buy from.
So one day when I was placing our order I talked to my sales person that my company uses and he said the people at Clearinghouse sweepstakes place orders all the time for the refurbished items that they stock. Also if people will look at the items in the flyer that these people send out they are all old items that are no longer being sold in any store.Me and my partner have been privlaged to see some of the items in their warehouse and the ones that we looked at all have refurbished serial numbers.
Buyers beware of this company they are nothing but people out to scam the public of their hard earned money. And I love how they get their own employess to right in with high praise reports for them.
Thank you all.

Rip-Off or not you decide.

I thought the price was comparable to the large department store chains for the stereo alone and the one from SCH came with a cabinet to store all my music in as well!!
I recieved the stereo in excellent condition just two weeks after my check was sent.
I've had a good experience with this company and would not hesitate to order from in the future.
As to those that like these guys, did you know EXACTLY what you were getting when you paid for the item? Were you just simply browsing through a catalog and baught something or were you approached like we were, as a "winner" even though it really doesn't SAY "winner" on this letter (but the intention IS WINNER just by the use of the first sentences "congratulations", "request for action", "urgent", "non-transferable", "watermark" , voucher is only valid if signed by J. Johnston in BLUE ink, "Reserved item", "FINAL NOTICE" and check the check box if returning in 7 days on the envelope as well as their company NAME IS using "SWEEPSTAKES")? The only saving legal grace they have to fall on from this intent is a "RFA" seal that is printed on the page and around it says "Sales Notification". If I wanted to PAY about full price for something that has NO description other than "television set", I guess I really should go to a store instead of basically (for all intents and purposes here) BLIND MAIL ORDERING. It's the BLIND part that is actually the faudulence of this mailer. So upon this, I can only guess that Patty - Oak View, California and Melissa - Jersey City, New Jersey either WORK for them, simply MAIL ordered out of a catalog from them and KNEW what they were getting for the price they were paying, or your blind to what it was that you baught per actual value that you cold have gotten from a store from them if you replied to such a letter like ours.
FYI, I did reply to one of these type letters many years ago for a 7 piece luggage set for $20, and you know what I got. A 7 piece luggage set made out of nylon weave (like parachute pants) that if I saw what I was getting wouldn't have even bothered because I'd say it was worth only $20. If I still had the letter, and I distincly remember this, DID say "WINNER" on it...

I've Never Had Any Problems!

In 1992, I purchased my first set of luggage from them and it is still in great condition. Any damage sustained was because I loaned one piece to someone, who decided to sit on it - causing the frame to bend slightly. If the person hadn't sat on it, it would be perfect.
In 2000, I purchased my 10-piece cookware set from them, which also came with a Cuisinart Mini-Food Processor and measuring cups/spoons. I received all items in a timely fashion and everthing still works according to its specifications. A friend of mine, who loves to cook and only buys the best in cookware, commented on the quality of the cookware I purchased - it was identical to what she had purchased at a substantially higher price.
I'm sorry to hear that all of you have had problems. The only thing I can say is - No company is perfect; every company has customers who have had bad experiences (including companies that have been in business since our grandparents were young)

I just want to say that I've been getting alot of those Sweepstakes Clearing House envelopes in the mail. They have been trying to get me to purchase items from them as well. Boy am I glad I read some of these reports. I started to buy a radio from them, but not now. You can't trust anyone anymore! Thanks a bunch! You've just saved me over $400.00!!
