Sweepstakes Clearinghouse ripoff on digital video camera Dallas Texas

I also just got Sweepstake Clearinghouse letter with 6 check vouchers and I was interested in the camcorder, but I thought I check that out on the internet, and good thing I saw this notice; now i know its not worth it. thanks

I have been receiving the same "Official Prize Award Directive" from Sweepstakes Clearinghouse. I've never responded, but was thinking of purchasing the DVC Digital Camcorder from them. I went online to search for this brand and model. Of course they really don't list a model, only "DVC Digital Camcorder". I cannot find a brand called DVC, so I went to their site. It asked me to enter my Credit Voucher Number [which has an expiration date of 5/21/07 - today's date for the record is 5/9/07] Entering the number brings up a single line: ERROR VALIDATING!! So I thought I'd try searching the net for anything on Sweepstakes Clearinghouse and came up with a rather extensive history on ripoffreport.com. I've read many things, either the company cashes the check but never delivers the merchandise, or the merchandise is not worth the money, or they cash the payment and then send the order COD. I was suspect that my Credit Voucher only showed my credit card would be billed $149.95 but it mentioned nothing about any shipping charges. I'm sure this is where they ship it COD and charge over $26.00 for the shipping, which is ridiculous.

So out of curiosity, can you tell me how your experience went? What is the actual brand and model number of the digital camcorder you received? What did they charge you for shipping and how did they charge it?

While I've read all the horror stories, I'm still curious about the item, perhaps it can be purchased elsewhere. What were the issues you experienced with this particular camcorder?
