Swift American Moving Overcharged us, destroyed out items; they are a fraud; stay away from them! NORTH HALEDON, New Jersey

We hired this company to help us moving from  Manchester, CT, to our current address. Everything they

did, however, was a lie and a breach of contract. They lied when they measured the cubic feet for our furniture and charged

50% more than they should have. The initial estimate was for 962 USD for 370cubic feet. We ended up having 700 cubic feet.

The company, however, claimed that we had 1200 cubic feet. They did a visual measurement of out load and they refused to do a proper measurement. Thus, they overcharged us by about 1500 USD. They did not provide weigh ticket(s) or an opportunity for us to observe the weighing. We did measure our load ourselves at delivery and the driver signed that we were right, but they refused to reimburse us. Pretty much all of the furniture was damaged. Some items were severely scratched, and some other items were completely destroyed. We had to recondition or throw away all of the furniture. Moreover, after unpacking the boxes that the movers packed we discovered that many kitchen items, lamps, and other sensitive items were broken. They missed three delivery dates (without even notifying us) and they brought our stuff only after our lawyer called them. They made two deliveries because they lost some items the first time. It took them more than a month to bring us most of our stuff. Even so, they did not deliver all the items. There are still some things missing and it seems unlikely that we are going to see them again. They do not want pay the insurance for the lost and damaged items as stated in the contract.

They did not provide us the following documents required by law: a copy of the "Your Rights And Responsibilities When You

Move" pamphlet, a bill of lading. They do answer to the following phone number: 1-877-846-6180. It seems that the address
