In working for this company for the short period of Feb. 05 and resignation as of Oct. 05,following training in Memphis, Tn Dec. 04. Recommend that nobody put thereself through what I endured while employed, finding that such unethical business practices are common practice for this company.
It is a sad realality that this company ripds off its drivers daily. In ways of short changing miles paid to actual miles ran, refusal of break down pay / repair time,unpaid layovers, short changing detention pay if paid at all, extending pay owed, unauthorized deductions, refusal of reimbursements, attaching miles to previous trips / misrepresenting pay, Assign advances as personal instead of company costs ( which can be monitered simply by advance code ends in a 4 digit number is personal and company ends in a 9 digit) etc....
Though the DM is advised to tell you whatever you want to hear, basically flat out lie in order to keep you running. Though all costs of running the truck are basically deducted from your check. So you are never getting paid what you earn. Word of advice copy all receipts and BOL's as they are counting on drivers not doing so as they will not reimburse w/o them.As well log all the time on your logs for detention and delays as they use logs to support there claims for non-payment.I would advise to do the same for the unpaid miles that they do not pay.As in attach empty mile diff. at time up p/u, and loaded miles at drop on logs to support claims of miles driven unpaid.
For those of you who are unaware there is a clas action suit for unpaid miles at hagens-berman.com, in which you may sign up for unpaid miles litigation.
Though in the event of doing so you may be subject to unpresidented safety holds, layovers,brk-downs and so forth in berating by your terminal in retaliation.As most of you should know would also be hard to get home time though policy states every 10-14 days.
It is only a matter of time before Swift gets whats coming to them, as long as they continue to get complaints. This all the more reason to make notations on your logs as it supports the reality of unpaid wages. Muchless, it proves that there unethical busines practices will not be tolerated.
Hopefully most of you will do so as well report report there illegal practices to DOT. As they are not unfamilier with them as they are barely holding on to there satisfactory rating. If they do lose this rating as I should they would also lose accounts that have clauses that they must hold a satisfactory rating in order to hold there accounts.
So bottom line is keep copies of all work performed, in the event of unethical/illegal practices get witness statements, even if you can obtain statements at a shipper or consignee off your qualcomm is worth it. Believe me they will lie through there teeth on facts or statements made on qualcomm. As in the harassment that I know is standard practice, get proof of your claims you'll need it.
As well do not fall for that safety dept. places you on safety holds, log classes, and log violations. Your Dm/Terminal control this and use them as a scape goat so you don't know. As it is standard practice in attempts to control what you do or berate you.
For those of you that get threats of DAC report negative marks you may obtain a copy of your DAC report in Tulsa, OK and if there are false reports get them for Blackballing.
This all may seem extreme though you'll feel diff. if your ripped off. Incompetence at it's best should be SWIFT'S motto- Or bad business is good business. How just hav'nt figured out how they have found so many dishonest people that have no problem carrying out there unethical practices. I figure you have to be pretty low in values to do as your told even if its wrong. I can only hope what comes around goes around if not to them but there family and see if they maybe understand then, though doubtful.
