In general I found the staff rude, arrogant, evasive, non responsive, and basically not helpful at all. Saying hello had them ignore you, asking for help or directions had them pretend not to speak English, good luck with all the non essential touristy stuff you wanted to do.
Other items of interest, breakfast is provided just don't eat it. They had a way of having staff and others who must be friends of staff or "Secret Staff" show up to guard it, shove their elbows in your face while you attempted to get your cereal and milk and toast and yummy peanut butter, and it really was comical if not rude and unsafe.
I actually had a female staff member shove me out of the way while I was washing dishes and flatware and this is with me standing on wet tile floors with a table full of cutlery and flatware right next to me. She snuck up behind me and then just shoved me out of the way without saying she was there or wanted to use the sink. I guess the customers come last and this is being done to accomodate the staff and their friends. The behaviors here were just incredible and a big safety concern. This is just common sense, and courtesy, and respect of others. Or lack thereof.
Eventually it became clear that this was some form of retaliation and these people are vigilantes, criminals in other words, and that would be accurate. Some form of prejudice is ongoing with that.
The upstairs BBQ was broken and looks like it has not been used in years, despite the claims on their website which are all largely inaccurate.
Despite the other claims this is a social event, you had guests who would smoke in the rooms, display other territorial behaviors like refusing to share seating spaces with the claim they are sitting there and taking up the whole table, when at other times they would sit right next to me without asking if it was ok to do so, so really you will have to see where you are at in the realm of nobility you are blessed to be in the presence of at that moment. I eventually did not bother and just ignored the rude people and expected no help from staff.
Often times items are left as triphazards placed on the spiral stair cases, intentionally, and staff and other guests are not very good at observing protocols as to how to share spaces such as stairways, doorways, and outer and inner steps. Basically you as the customer always seem to come last. There are all kinds of slimy guys hanging around hitting on all the girls, hanging around in the street, and you are left with a bad impression overall. The staff is just as bad really.
They look to retaliate also since you would be from outside their country, pretending not to speak English, mumble to act like they are not able to speak at all, treating you like a fool and moron, and possibly you won't know what side of the road to drive on etc. If tourism is such a large part of your culture, it is in Australia, then I think you have a long way to go since it seems nobody is welcome here. I found all cab drivers and staff at airports and the like able to speak perfect English and we understood each other with not one single problem.
Hygiene is a big one, don't dry your tableware before putting it away? Then you get "Charged" $20.00 for not doing so but be sure to dry that soup bowl (That you found with dish water in it) with the towel that has been sitting on the floor and stinks of death. Staff members would pick towels up from the floor and place them on racks for others to "Clean and dry" their dishes with instead of washing them.
This is one you'd want to avoid and you don't want your kids spending $1,000.00 a month to live in a slum and homeless shelter that basically should be free.
