The last two months I was on my cell phone more than usual. I had no idea how much I was going over in minutes, but not only that, I had no idea what a hey day Tmobile was having charging me left and right for everything.

Suddenly my bill went from the average monthly of $75 to $700. So I called Tmobile and asked them to change my plan (I was willing to upgrade to a more expensive plan) and to see if they could apply that to the current overages. They refused to apply the new plan to the current overages!!! (What dumb move!) Even though it was a win win for them that I pay up most of my current bill and that they now got me locked into a new plan that was more expensive. In the long run, either way they made money.

So now they have lost me as a customer. I am switching to someone else. I don't care that I have to pay the cancellation contract fee. It's about the principle that as a long term customer they didn't service me, they didn't help me solve the problem, they didn't compromise at all. For a company that has a horrible reputation of terrible coverage and roaming they sure act really cocky. Most people I know never use them. I am sorry I ever did and that I ever referred them to anyone.

This isn't really a ripoff, is it?

Let's do this with other kinds of businesses. Let's say that you operate a business that distributes widgets. I have a contract with you that says if I pay you a certain amount, I am entitled to take 1,000 widgets a month.

Now let's say I am very busy during the month of April and I take 2,500 widgets from you. I get an invoice from you that reflects a major price increase because of the extra widgets. I ask for a new contract and you are certainly willing to give me one...starting in May. You still expect me to pay my bill for April.

You can certainly choose to lower my April balance, but if you choose to hold me to my legal obligations (per my contract with you), you are not ripping me off.

As it is, $700 is a huge amount of money and if I had the ability, I would have tried to work with you on that. However, you did go over your minutes and T Mobile is holding you to your contractual agreement. That's not a ripoff.
