I am a mother of 4 who made it out of the city slums through education. My goal in accepting this vacation package was to make it possible for my younger two children to experience an affordable vacation outside of the tri state area. We were drawn to the Tan vacation experience with the promise of free gas vouchers and a 3 day hotel stay anywhere in the usa, whether we accepted the offer or not. It was in early 2007 when gas was getting really expensive. At the presentation many offers were made in which I knew I could not afford. I decided to accept the last offer which was much less than the $200/mon presented at first. This offer was only $85/mon as long as I provided my own airfare. This wasn't a problem because my children would be grateful just to go to Disney World or even Busch Garden, where we could drive. The plan would also work because the 3 reps they sent over to me said that I would have a kitchen and two bedroom suite over the beach front at any hotel that was under their contract. I was even more excited that after 3 months of paying into the plan I would be able to book a weekend getaway. Unfortunately after 9 months of paying into the plan, I tried to book a vacation and was never able to get "an opening". Even in October. I tried to take the kids to Baltimore harbor and was always instructed to leave message or email for contact. The most insulting part was when I had overdrafts due to the company taking money out of my account on dates other than the 15th of the month as agreed to. When I stop the automatic withdrawal then I received a response. I used this oppurtunity to address the non returning of my calls in which I was referred to an agent whom end up going on vacation and never returning my email. Now after a year my rate has went up to $95/mon and I'm told I need to pay $500 for a 3 day weekend in Baltimore? I don't want to mess my credit up so I continue to pay. My children have yet to make it to Disney World, and even worse these two companies call me periodically trying to get me to send them more money for priveleges I don't even use. I always keep my bank statements to cover my self. My prayer is for change in 2009. That others will come for so that these scam artists can stop holding my wallet hostage. Mainly so that no other hard working citizen will ever be tooken advantage of.

PLAN WITH TAN A RIP OFF

AUTHOR: Karen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 20, 2009

To Fatisha.. Philadelphia.. I too joined TAN 5 years ago was tricked basically into paying 12,000 for 31 vacations.. I think my husband has 2 years left to pay. I have not gotten 1 vacation.. What you can do is write to the BBB on this company.. That is what i did and finally was able to get a place booked with upgrade. In cancun mexico.. But that was after i had to be turned down 3 times I eventually had to cancel the cancun due to a serious family emergency in family and guess what loss money on that because i didn't cancel in time. YOu have to show TAN that you can't be ripped off!

www.bbb.com or consumer protection agency make sure you have all your information I am so sick of businesses taking advantage of people! I bet each month they get your money out of your bank account but can't book you a trip
