I have had this TCF account for under a year but they have already caused so many problems for me that in my eyes, they are the WORST bank i have ever dealth with. I feel that TCF does not train there employees well. Why else am i always so misinformed about the procedure rules and regulations?
The most recent problem i had with them this week is that i placed a stop payment for an automatic debit that was suppost to come out of my account. The rep who did this for me said she just need the company name and amount of the transaction and it would be no problem! I was never told that there was a possibilty that the stop would be ineffective due to it being placed "too late". I was told it would be gone by the next business day, which was friday.
On friday, i checked my account online and sure enough the stop had not gone through, although the stop payment fee of $33 had gone through immediatly. I once again called customer service and this time the rep said the company had used there initials and not their full name,so she once again placed the stop payment, this time under the company initials, at no cost to me. she informed me it would be gone by tommarrow the latest, which was saturday.Once again, i was not told it might not go through because of the stop being placed "too late".
now today on monday morning, i check my balance and the stoped transaction has posted to my account and was not stopped from coming through. I call custmor service once again, very irritated by now, and this time the customer service rep tells me the stop was not effective because it was placed "too late". After i explained that i was never told this from the beggining she apologized but told me there was nothing she could do( a responce i often get from them) and she would transfer me to a manager.
After about 10 minutes on hold, a manager picked up the line and told me basically what happened was that the stop payment was place too late and was not effective and there was nothing she could do at this point. She also told me she could file a report to TRY to get my $33 dollar fee returned to me.
I think it is so unfair that when it comes to getting my fees reversed due to thier errors, they tell me they will TRY to get it back but they have no problem taking them away immediatly from me.
when i informed her that i was never told the stop payment would not go through becuase it was too late, she told me "well, we send out letters informing you of that". Excuess me, but when i use our postal system, it usually takes 3-4 days for a letter to arrive, which will still have been to late to inform me. If the customer rep had told me on thursday, that it was too late to place a stop on that transaction, i would have not payed $33 to "chance it" if it was going to effect my account either way.
This is not the first problem i have had with TCF and fees that could have been avoided if the customer service rep would just inform their customers correctly. now i have a bank account that is SEVERLY over drawn and not a dime until my next paycheck, which is an atomatic deposit, which will go mostley to that overdraft balance. they have no sympathy that i have a 6 year old little boy at home and bills that need to be paid, which will fall behind because " there is nothing they can do for me". I am currently waiting for someone in corporate to call me back.
I think the fact that TCF does not run checksytems checks attracts alot of people to open accounts with them, but shortly they find out that the fees are high and unjust and the bank always wins because there is never "anything they can do for you"! something has to be done so that this bank stops taking advantage of customers who work so hard for their money only to have it taken away due to incompetant service reps.
